Hey guys I have been using this site for years, but I finally have come across a problem I can't find the solution to. I have the KRL7023 (3 bank master) I also own two diffrent scan tools the Solus Ultra and Hondas MVCI. I would like to add a little bit more security to that drawer. I was thinking something along the line of a locking lid like the Matco boxes. I wanted to do the powertop for my box but was told it is not offered for the master series. Have any of you guys fabricated anything or know of any options that I can't find on snap ons website. Hope you guys have some great advice, thanks!

How about a low profile steel box that you can bolt in to the drawer.Might find one on ebay

Didn't know what a Solus Ultra was but looked it up. Dang. Not cheap, I'd consider putting a handcuff chain on it and never let it out of my sightnn

I might have a look at a small gun safe that has a keypad. I'm thinking the kind that holds one or two pistols and have quick access. you could bot it or tack weld it in place. I've got one that you push a few buttons on and it opens.

Just a thought.

Look on line for the truck safe boxes for the center consoles...they are for guns but it will do the trick for you...unless they steal you whole drawer.

I was hoping for something that looked like it came from the snapon factory. I was thinking incorporating the drawer covers that slide back and forth and putting a lock on it. Just not sure how I'm gonna do that yet.

Clayton, Welcome to the GJ forum. I started my security upgrade by replacing the locks with tuberlar key locks that I had to grind abit. So for my meters I was thinking of adding two locks to the drawer (one on each side). This way no seperate box needed and box still looks stock. Maybe a idea for you. I have them key'd alike.

Go down to the closest fishing hole. Catch a great big water mochasin put it in a burlap sack and through it in the drawer. Trust me you could put a solid gold bar next to a sack and a thrift has to know what's in the sack.

I would like to see some pics of what you did jastech (if possible). Btw the extra security is just to have the other techs ask for my scanner and not be able to just borrow it, without me knowing where it is at. I'm just tired of walking around our 50 bay shop asking 35 techs if they have seen it. Also tired of locking and unlocking my box everytime I need to get into it.

Clayton, So far I had just done the main lock as posted above. My next step is to use a Step Drill Bit and make a 5/8" hole on both sides of selected drawer for extra security. This way I can leave main box unlocked and the security drawer will still be locked so nothing is taken/borrowed unless "I" unlock it. I bought 12 Tubelar lockes keyed alike. So all my single and double sided tool box locks will be replaced. This will make it easy on the key ring I carry just for all the locks. Tweekers out here use a screwdriver with vise grips, stick it in single/double lock and break open. The tubelar locks won't allow tweeker to use screwdriver/dent puller.

Bro, The best security is not letting anyone access to your box!!!!!!

Call me crazy But no one is allowed in my box and the few who tried
Almost got it handed to them. The one moment that sticks out is when
I told my Service manager I was heading out to lunch but my plans changed I had closed my hutch but not locked my box. I see my S/M go to my box and start looking thru my box. I yelled WTF are you doing The man nearly crapped his pants. i told him he has two choices I could kiddnap his 1st born or I could call corporate. He said sorry put his head down and walked Never has gone near my box again.

I am not an A$$hole type guy if you need a tool and ask that's ok. The only thing I don't lend is scanners or pens.I have over a 100k in tools I worked dam hard to own my stuff for the next to abuse.
