I am working with Snap-On customer service to get replacement slides for a KR647. The slides listed for that box are 8-2488ALRS.

I received replacement slides in the mail and they are incorrect. The original slides to the box measure 14.5" (when closed) which matches the description of 8-2488ALRS. The slides that were sent measure 15.75" (when closed).

I am trying to determine if the part # is correct and the wrong slides were sent or if the part # is wrong for this box and those slides are in fact 8-2488ALRS.

The box in question:

The original slides (marked with only Accuride) 14.5" Long

The slides that were sent (not marked and measure 15.75" long):

Can anyone shed some light on this? Has anyone ordered 8-2488ALRS recently and can you share what you got?

Update:

Snap-On CS emailed and are sending out new slides. I am guessing that means the parts originally sent did not match the correct part #. We will see when they arrive.

I recently got a set for my KR657. The originals were marked Snap On 8-2488ALRS. The replacements only had 8-2488ALRS marked on them. They matched up and mounted on with no issues.

Just wanted to update this thread and confirm that the correct slides were sent and are stamped with the correct part number. They are also updated to quick release which is awesome compared to the original 1 piece slides. Everything mounted and lined up perfectly.

@designer485 do you still have the tubular rivets that came with the slides on the small baggie? If so, can you share their sizing?

I recently discovered that the replacement slides are not full extension BUT they do have a predrilled hole to make them full extension. This would require drilling the old rivet on the release and re-riveting it to the new hole.

Below is a picture with the new slide on the left with the extra hole and the original full extension slide on the right with the release riveted roughly where the hole is on the new slide.

they appear to be just universal slides they sent you .

I went ahead and drilled two rivets on a set of slides. It appears the rivet themselves have a 5/16” head and 1/8”x1/8” shaft. The plastic release has a sleeve that makes up the space between the rivet and the 3/16” hole. I have some rivets on order from Amazon, we’ll see how it goes.

From what I can gather doing this mod should add about a 1/2” to the drawer extension. I know we could all make use of an extra 1/2”.

Went back to the shop and did a quick proof of concept using pop rivets. Top slide clearly shows the extra extension.

If anyone else feels inclined to try this, here is the winning combination for hardware.

And this is the result.
