Like it says, our snap-on driver up and quit, haven't seen a truck in a month. A few of us have boxes thru snap-on credit(my self included) How do go about paying? Can any driver take a payment, if I happen to see a truck?

Im well ahead on.my payments so im not too worried as I pay over and beyond what I should every 2 weeks, others pay what they have too each week.

Another tech called snap-on, and they're working on getting another driver on our route but it could be up to 6months he was told...

Dont want my or another other persons credit to get screwed due to our driver disappearing.

Call up Snap On customer service and they'll give you an address to mail your checks to until you get a dealer. Don't get behind in your payments. You can still default even if you don't have a dealer.

DON'T give your payment to just any driver.

Are you paying on a Snap-on credit card, or are making weekly payments to the driver's own truck credit? Some drivers carry their own credit line of $500 zero interest.

If you are running credit off the truck it's called an R/A account. No interest. That's for tools, and whatever else the driver selling..... Except boxes. All boxes, cabinets, lockers ect, get financed through snap-on with interest.

That's not entirely true. My dealer let me carry my new box on bid r/a account. I'd say that is up to each and every different driver and whether or not he can afford to carry that much.

Until you get the "who do I pay" question straitened out, put the money in an escrow account at a local bank. Make sure that it's specifically earmarked for Snap-On box payments. Add to it every two weeks.

This way, if someone tries to come after you for being delinquent, you can prove that you were still making payments and were just waiting for clarification as to who should receive the money. They'll get any interest earned as well. This is the same method that a renter should use when withholding rent from a landlord if there are unresolved issues.

What I've heard happens is if they don't have another existing franchisee willing to buy/take on that route, if it goes on for a bit longer then they would like, they'll send a Corporate owned truck & driver/employee over to take care of the route (Collect Payments)...and service existing customers.

I would call snap on and ask for your regional managers contact information and explain your concerns to him. Your credit is nothing to play around with.

Im surprised snap on credit hasnt called you, they called me a week after our dealer quit. They will usually let you make electronic payments at no charge if you had a dealer that quit. Thats what they did for me. I would make sure that you are square with them if you make your payments through your dealer, as I was screwed over when mine left.

Luckily I have no broken snappy tools so mot having a truck right now isnt stoping me from working due to broken tools.

There is 2 big dealerships on our route, cant imagine how they're dealing with it.

I also don't have a truck r/a account to deal with. So I don't owe "HIM" any money, only snap-on credit.

I had a MATCO tool dealer leave. I was told to wait for the next MATCO dealer to drop by the shop. 3 months later a new MATCO dealer showed up.

So can the old dealer sell everyone's debt to the new dealer or someone else for pennies on the dollar just to salvage some money out of his failed business venture?

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
he heard gearwrench was getting into the tool truck business.

+1, that along with knowing he could never compete with GW on a quality level:lol_hitti In all honesty there are many of times I regret not waiting to buy the Snap On version of whatever I bought. I will report my Matco dealer is a nicer guy than my Snap On dealer, but the Snap On dealer has been a rabid pitbull in regards to getting me tools that I ordered, only once did it take him two weeks to get me a discontinured combination flare nut wrench. Other than that I've only waited on tools that had not been released yet, like the 18 Volt 3/8" impact.

Last time I had a snappy guy up and quit was a few years ago. We didn't see a Snap On truck for over six months. I owed about $1,200 on the truck account when he quit.

We never heard a peep from anybody until about month five. A corporate guy in a regular car came around to say hi. I was chomping at the bit to buy tools, asked him if he had any in the trunk of his car. He didn't take any payments from us, just verified our current outstanding balances. A drive showed up in another month and we resumed paying.

I never owed anything to Snap On credit, so I dunno how they work that out. I have always just used the truck account. I buy my toolboxes used on craigslist.

Same here, i try not to go over a grand. Ill never buy a new tool box either. Just my prefrence. But my snap on dealer has been around for 36 years. He is the best dealer i've ever dealt with hands down. Got 2 warehouses and had 5 trucks. Sold 2 and the routes for the guys who worked for him. Slowly working on his way out.

My guess would be that they have not called yet because you are paid ahead. If they wait till the amount you have paid now is past the point where they "schedule" is on your balance owed, then they make more money on interest.

This happened to me when our last SO man quit. I went for the first month with no word. So I called and did the payment over the phone and requested they mail me a statement (which they did) and I paid for a few months that way 'till the new guy got going.
