That's a pretty sweet set. I knew that other manufacturers offered them... but this is the first that I have heard of a set from Snap On.

I've got an older Snap-On Industrial catalog (500i). It lists 6 electro sets.

-ES1001 Electronic Service Set
-ES2001 Basic Starter Set
-ES2002 Deluxe Field Engineer's Set
-ES2003 Journeyman Set
-ES2004 Professional Field Eng. Set
-ES2005 Master Field Eng. Set

I'll try to scan the pages too my computer. I'll let you know when I got it, maybe I can email it too you so you can have it for yourself.

Those are sweet!

When I was a kid, I used to love watching the TV repairman come to the house because he'd have those brief cases with all the neat tools inside. :)

The Tool Box itself looks like my XCELITE Electronic Service Kit except mine is colored brown. Any chance this is manufactured by the same company for Snap On.

Yes it surely does. I have two sets and they smell exactly the same. Must be the leather they used.

We use these to service computers and networks and they served as well. However I believe it is only offered in Standard, no metric.

Pretty sure it was the plastic used for the screwdriver handles and not the leather...

That Xcelite smell..............

I know all my fathers screwdrivers and nutdrivers (including the one new/swapped nutdriver) still have it. It doesn't go away.

Makes you want to tour the factory, doesn't it.:spit:

That was the bad thing about this kit. Funny ... I never thought that it was the screwdriver plastic. Come to think about it now, yeah the smell comes from the inside of the tool box.

Do you think that Xcelite made the Snap On Kit?

That would be GREAT!

I'm sure that Snap-on did not make the cases and probably not the tool pallets either ( just had them labeled for them). The Main difference is that for the most part the Snap-on sets are filled with snap-on tools...

It has to be the plastic handles. I have a slew of nut drivers, screw drivers and other Xcelite tools that were from my dad's tool collection (from the 50's and 60s). They all stink to high heaven. I actually rubbed them down with alcohol at one point, but to no avail. I finally moved all that stuff into my wood shop because I couldn't stand the smell in my tool box anymore.
