There was a time not far away and not long ago, I would insist on North American made only. My goodness, how times have changed.
In 2024 the choices are many and few, if Made in USA is your priority. I understand that HF have a high quality line.
If I were in the market for a new box, I would make myself familiar with the
dimensions of the drawers and their quality. Buy the biggest box you can fit in your space. This is the time to buy more than you think you need. If your toolbox has to moved every day the wheels take a beating. I like the wheel sets with the spring suspension.
ONe of the guys I worked with bought a monster toolbox. It had a sound system and TV. the company policy did not allow the used of either during work hours. There is 3, 9 hour shifts every day. With the overlap, wen do you use the electronics?
I have had nearly 30 toolboxes in 30 years. Most were buy and resell after freshening. I have more than 10 boxes left.
If you are a tool collector and polisher, go for the fancy wood top. Stainless starts life looking looking like a million bucks. It scratches easily. A hard look leaves a scar. I used rubber belting or commercial rubber floormat.
If you can find a nice SnapOn Or MAC and the price is right. Have a look at the back of top inside of the cabinets and look for a serial number. Call the manufacturer determine the box is paid and not listed on one of the tool company's credit accounts.
The numbers can be seen if the top drawer is pulled fully out. It is a popular scam to finance a toolbox then leave the company with the toolbox and place it on CL or FBMP. I do not trust many sellers.
