I have the older version of the Ethos and have been happy with it for the most part.

Does this new one do bi-directional? If it is like the older versions and can't then I would look around at other options. I like my snap on scanner, however a coworker had an autel scanner, that was cheaper and could do 10x more things. As I said my biggest complaint is that I can't control anything, however I knew this when I bought it. When I bought it in late 2010 I got it used with the latest updates and all accessories, for cheaper then just the set of snap on keys.

Ive been eyeing the ethos myself. My dad is "test driving" one next week. Anyone know if it does Honda airbag and body codes?

If they are/were going to blow out the old Ethos at a great price I may opt for one, but presently they are listed a t $1,895 then new plus model is listed at $1,595 so I suspect there should be a sale coming to clear out old inventory.

Unless the price is low enough I would look elsewhere. I paid $350 for my complete Snap On Ethos setup back in 2010 and have gotten my moneys worth, however if I had to buy another scanner to replace mine my first choice would not be snap on.

I own the Ethos, my coworker owns an autel maxidas and our shop provided the modis. For price and functions I will be looking into the Autel scanners when I upgrade.

I am looking at this as well since it is on sale for 1400 now.

Will this activate ABS modules to bleed brakes? Really looking at it for the TPMS and service light resets as I am a tech at a high volume lube and tire shop that also does service.

ethos is not and will not be bidirectional, as it will cut into the solus/modis/verus/verdict territory.

it will continue to get coverage updates and other features, but will still be an expensive code reader/"scanner"

I know I'm digging an old thread here and am new to the forum so I apologize in advance.

I was researching the ethos plus on break as I'm putting one on my snap on credit here in a bit. The plus does have bidirectional capability though unlike the original ethos where there was no troubleshooting at all. The plus is 3k though where the ethos is 1500. I know this thread was originally 2013 so maybe all of the features of the ethos plus weren't released yet or what, but the fact it is bidirectional capable is what sold me on this scan tool.

Anywho, I'll make an actual intro thread now.

As far as I know, it's NOT bidirectional. You must be confused. 3k is way off as well. You can buy them used at around 700. I wouldn't even pay that for one.

He's looking at an Ethos Tech for that price. Which is bi-directional and has 3 years of updates and warranty in the price.

Yes it's the new ethos tech. It is basically a solus without troubleshooter! Three years of updates and warranty is very cool too!

The ethos tech just came out it has bi derectional but the ethos plus doesn't have bi derectional you just don't need any keys with the ethos. Also I the ethos tech comes with euro.
