Snap-on Ethos questions

I have started looking for a scanner/reader and had originally thought I would just get something like the Actron 9580a. I read everything I could find about it and it seems like I would be able to use it with my wifes '08 Hyundai Santa Fe. From Actrons website it seems (unless I read it wrong) that I would have extended access to ABS, 02 sensor readings, and various sensor readings.

But, the more I researched I feel like I might need something a bit more powerful. I looked for something less that snap-on's offering of modus/solus and those full blown systems and I found the Ethos. It seems like it might actually be worth the extra (would be buying used not new). My questions is this:

With the Ethos, I could not find much specific info online with regard to needing adapters, cards or anything other than what comes with the base package. Would I need anything else or are the adapters/keys usually for obd1 and higher end cars(mercedes, etc)? I know that they list a asian adapter/key set but I do not know what one would need them for.

Thanks for helping a guy out

If you have a smartphone a la Android get the app torque and order a cheap Bluetooth obd2 adapter on eBay . The app is amazing and the developer is top notch.

Ok I looked into torque but could not find much in terms of what it was capable of. The developer page lists what it can do but it seems that it can not do much more than read sensors and read/clear fault codes. Granted for the price of normal scanners that cost $100's this is a perfect app, but I am looking for something that is bi-directional capable.
