Hi,

I started a thread the other day about the Ethos Plus, turned out the Plus would be a bad purchase. At the time the Tech wasn't going to be available here (The UK) but my dealer has informed me he can get one.

So focusing on the Tech only, it's £20 a week for two years, you get all the updates and support etc for two years (I know it's three years for the US)

Seemingly it appears to be a Solus Ultra in a smaller box. From what i can see it can do everything the Solus Ultra can including Bi Directional controls etc.

I'm looking for feedback from anyone that has one/has used one.

I want it for use on my own cars & family/friends and for use at work but i also plan on offering cheap diag scans in my area to offset the cost of the machine.

It cant do everything, its missing the troubleshooter which is one of the biggest reasons to buy Snap-On. Without it you may as well be looking at OTC, Autel, Launch for half the money.

It has the exact same scanner software as all snapon diagnostic tools. So, it will scan just the same as a solus or verus. It goes in depth with vehicle specific codes and modules plus special tests. It has bidirectional. 2 years of updates and 2 or 3 year warranty plus European vehicles. What does the uk scanner include, American or Asian for free? It's a powerful scanner that you will get a lot of use from. Snapon makes the best software with the deepest coverages, and support. Call up any of those other companies and good luck getting any help when something goes wrong or you have questions. If you need sure-track or the troubleshooter that's when you upgrade to the solus.

I just used my ethos tech last week to change brakes on a 2009 Audi A8L. It has electronic rear emergency brakes and requires a scanner to do the job. He ethos tech gives you instructions step by step and rewinds the calipers so that you can remove them and change the pads. That's one of the functions of having bidirectional controls. Then you input the brake pad thickness and away you go! Very simple procedure when using the ethos.

You could get a subscription to save identifix since you don't have the troubleshooter. I wouldn't pay for iatn it's basically a paid forum. I found a fees fixes on there but identifix has everything

If I buy it it comes with euro on it and you get Asian coverage too for free.

I've actually never used the trouble shooter on the solus ultra at work. Never had a need to do so.

A bit late to the party but I have one.

Have had it over 6 months now.

Its ok not amazing. Coverage is a bit poor on certain brands.

Is it worth the money? I'm still undecided.

I've had mine a while now too.

I find it excellent, it's scanned everything I've connected it to without issue, what brands have you struggled with ?
