I recently got snap ons 8 pc. 3/8 drive extension set. ive been waiting some while for them and the were brand new un opened from my dealer. well i used them today finally and I realized that the two larger extensions have poor chrome plating. i can see all the sanding marks, an they are almost satin in finish. Ive never had this issue before and all my other smaller sizes are super glossy. so is this how snap on manufactures their longer extensions? i have 90% snap on tools but none of their long extensions. im assuming they don come this way?

Without pictures its hard to say, But if there is a finish/plating issue have your dealer look at them.

Agreed, I don't understand how everytime someone gets one had SO product they go crazy with "is this what Snap-on has went to" or "is this how they do it now".....

Woah hold on. I'm not bashing snap on. They are the only tool company ideal with. Never had any issues. I was just wondering if anybody else saw this issue or if they don't make the extra step with longer extensions. So don't jump to conclusions on something. I'm not one of those guys that gets on here to bash a company that has made me money for my job

Thank you. That's all I needed to know. Like I said, this was my first set of the xl extensions so I wasn't sure. I know some company's don't bother so I was just wondering if it was a part failure I should have replaced

My 24" has a satin finish... I'm not worried about. That's one that will get broken eventually anyway.

The 18" and longer have more of a satin finish to them, that is how mine are.

I wonder if they changed the finish on the Longer extensions due to the amount of twist they endure? I suspect Chrome doesn't adhere too well when twist is present.. Just a thought.

That's what I was thinking. I know some tools that you will abuse more have a rougher finish. Just wasn't sure if they do that with the longer extensions or not. You learn something every day. Cause it's both my 18 and 24"

I believe the older satin finish tools a lot of my snap on tools from the 90's to 00's have a satin finish.

Also some of the older ones have a small pin hole at the square drive where new ones do not

You didn't use those chrome extensions with an impact wrench, right? I know that'll ruin a chrome finish faster than you can say "antidisestablishmentarianism."

I use chrome extensions with my impact, bring the hate. Snap ons impact extension don't hold sockets for **** at least the one I own don't. I've seen the longer extensions on the truck they look chrome to me so ask your dealer and post a picture. My harbor freight 24" is chrome, plus one by the way that HF extension is a pass. I had the snap on 24" breaker bar on an exhaughst bolt. The breaker bar was flexing real bad and the extension didn't even snap. The bolt eventually did though.
