I've been a long time lurker and knowledge thief to this forum so I've finally decided to sign up and maybe one day contribute something back. But let's begin with stealing some more knowledge.

I've lost my Snappy F936MP multi position ratchet. I rarely used it but when I did it was really handy. I have no idea where it is, gone forever I guess so I'm now looking for an alternative. I asked my snap on man and he kind of half laughed at me like there was no chance in hell, I therefore didn't push him asking if it was available with a hard handle.

I've done the usual google searches here in Australia of some of the better quality Aussie brands and had no luck thus far. What are the USA options and does anyone have any experience with them.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Jason

Isn't that the old pear-head version of the F872MP? Snap-on made 4 different models of those MP ratchets. Blue Point made 1 model that I can remember.

I believe it is, I was given it so don't have the original purchase receipts. I can't find anything similar from snap on. Why have they discontinued them?

Legal reasons. Supposedly Snap-on lost a lawsuit due to patent infringement? The model I mentioned above would be your best bet, it has double the teeth of your other one and its a round head. Snap-on only made them for like 2 years, around 2001.

A number of manufacturers made them, but I don't think anyone makes them now. I had and sold an Armstrong 1/2 version, still have a Proto 3/8. I see them on ebay occasionally.

Your best bet is to go on ebay and do 2 different searches; type INDEX RATCHET and MULTI POSITION RATCHET. Your probably not going to find a F936MP (3/8" 36-tooth), if you do it will be in bad shape or even broken. The Snap-on F872MP (3/8" 72-tooth) will be the closest to it by the same brand, but they can go as high as $150 US dollars for one in good shape. Keep checking ebay every day for a few weeks and you will find something you will like. Mac tool made one too.

Mac has the XRI12 in 1/2 and th XR110 in 3/8. Matco has a 3/8 BIR10 and the 1/2 CIR12. Unfortunately they both look to be the same so they are probably a rebranded tool.

Good day, I have a F-71-B 3/8 ratchet date 1949 for which I need a new 30 tooth gear. Will the 30 tooth gear from the RKRAF730, or FN720 repair kit fit in my ratchet? The spring loaded ball in the drive end will no longer hold a socket or an extension bar. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Here is my 3/8 Proto 5257L. I believe the Mac was almost identical, 30t but smooth.
