Looks like my account is gone along with a giant multi thousand dollar wishlist curated over a few years.

I tried to log in and it made me change my password. With all the password strength requirements you'd think I was the CEO communicating trade secrets, not just a guy looking at ratchets.

In any case, after the password change and re-login, my wishlist still exists...but it looks like everything I've ever added to it is there, including the things I later purchased and removed.

Edit: They also added all of those items to my cart, conveniently.:lol_hitti

Edit 2: I tried to remove the items from my cart, and when I got down to 5, they started putting them back in! "Buy more tools you already have, comrade. We insist."

Personally, I think it's only ok. The layout is not very intuitive and browsing on an actual computer makes me feel as if the whole damn thing was designed for a tablet or phone. There are too many pictures and not enough meaningful content. If I go to the page for one of their scan tools or specialty tools, why is there download link to the user manual or updated software or something? Seems like a rush job that only focused on the superficial and cosmetics on "making the sale" and not enough time focused on the little things that would make the site outstanding.

Welcome to modern design.

What a cluster f_ck website.

I can't login so all my order history has gone "****". When I browse all the prices are double and apparently I can only see SO New Zealand.

The product images are tiny. (feel sorry for anyone with a cell phone)

These idiots can't get anything right when it comes to website design. Maybe they should consult with HF or Tekton.

This revamped website is not great to use. The tiny drop-down menus that you have to scroll through are a pain. The way they show results as a bunch of tiles is a bit odd, especially since there are no details at all until you click the tile. It reminds me more of a website for clothes shopping - not for purchasing commercial/industrial tools.

Everyone just needs to hire the dude/dudet who did the McMaster Carr website. Love absolutely everything about it.
Yup. The McMaster-Carr website is the epitome of good web design. It's super simple with absolutely no nonsense. It's ridiculously intuitive and easy to navigate and super fast. Their search engine knows just about every single possible word to describe an item. It also looks good on any size screen, as the website dynamically moves and scales things around.

While everyone else is trying to create "Online Stores", it's quite clear McMaster-Carr's goal was to recreate a paper catalog in a modern digital implementation. They succeeded.

If this has been mentioned already then disregard.....

I went to their new home page and clicked a link to a page about their side cutters..... Loud music IMMEDIATELY started blaring through my speakers. WTF? That tactic is ONLY used by spammy pop-up ads. That is the first no-no you lean on day number one in website building school. If you really want to scare away, or piss off your visitors, have music instantly start playing when you click a link.

And just to be clear, this was my VERY FIRST CLICK on that site when the music started blaring, FIRST CLICK! I immediately closed that website and came here to post my comment.

Come on Snap-on!

Can you provide a link to the site with the music? I had zero music/sounds.

I don't get any music either.

I don't understand why it defaults to Australia or whatever. Aren't there tracking cookies that automatically know what region you are in? Also, finding that small almost hidden drop down menu to change the country is pretty ridiculous.

I'm sure they'll work out the bugs though (I hope).

Yeah, McMaster-Carr has a great site that more companies should try to emulate.

What bothers me about McMaster Carr (and I realize it's not the fault of their website) is that they give no manufacturer data for 99% of what they sell. I hate Grainger and their website but at least they give you those details... including coo.

That's actually sort of the beauty of McMaster-Carr. They sell a spec, not a brand. If you what you're buying is brand-critical, you can request a specific brand or ask what brand you would be getting during order time.

I email McMaster for the COO and they have always gotten back to me in less than an hour. A nice thing with McMaster is they offer blueprints/drawings for most stuff they sell which is very handy

And if you think that's bad, you should look at their Tool Storage section... I wanted to see exactly what the dif was betweenthe 4 lines... Nothing. NOTHING. Just pretty pictures. Not a lot of them, and certainly nothing that tells what the differrences are and what you get for your Dollars (US, Australian, NZ, Canadian, or otherwise)...

For the money SO makes from us, you would think they could do better? So far... I classify their site as a continuing and ongoing fail. Hell, Freaking HARBOR FRIGHT can do better. When I can look on Amazon and see the choices, differences, and prices, and I look at the alleged best of the industry and they give me something that looks like it was made by Chinese Prison Labor... or a state prison industry catalog site (and even THEY'RE better???)...

But of course, SO is the apparently the honey badger of tool websites - they don't care, they don't give a s#!t... Sorry, but for the best, why is their website the worst?

Well, making good websites and making good tools have very little in common.

I’d be willing to give them some time to iron out the early problems, but removing the COO is a sign of bad intentions.

How much more time do they need? It's been at least a couple decades since Al Gore invented the internet!!

Anyone else notice that Snap-on removed all traces of country of origin from every tool listed on the new site?

Yes I noticed that. I’m not liking that

I noticed this today, found this thread to post it. Glad I'm not the only one annoyed with it. Sent them an email, enough people do the same maybe they'll change it back.

Having to email them each time to check on origin is a hinderance and flat out ****.
