BTW I showed the FLF80 to my Matco guy. His ratchets cost more than SO's new 80 teeth. I wonder if Matco will lower their prices to lower than SO. Probably not.

The dollar is weak against foriegn currency so, Matco won't be able to lower their ratchet prices since their 60 tooth ratchets with the new bimaterial grips aren't US made anymore.

Wow. That's pretty sad, how mcuh would it be to have just one guy over here operating the injection molding machine or whatever it is they need? It'd be funny if all in all w/ shipping and all they're actually losing.

I got a FLF80 on ebay about a month ago. It quickly became my favorite ratchet. The 80 tooth action is fantastic. I might need to buy the F80 now too to replace my C-man thinline 60 tooth. I blame this forum for this! ;-)

I do not see it as that stunning an accomplishment; in fact I think many brands of ratchet could do the same thing........probably even an ol HF POS!

I agree. It is not the gentile application of torque that tends to kill ratchets, it is shock loads like if you smack or bounce on the end of a ratchet handle to break loose a fastener. A video of them jacking up that toolbox a few inches and letting it drop would be a lot more impressive. I do not doubt that it is a very strong ratchet though. Advertising hype or not, I want one.

You mean their whole ratchet is made off shore or just the grip? Taiwan?

Just the Grip is offshore... Is the FLF80 made in USA? I heard there is no USA mark on it.

My FLF80 and FX80 have USA on them. As far as I can tell, there is either a QC issue of stamping the tool, ore they are gradually try to ween their tool line -and thereby a large tool buyerbase- off the USA name.

If they do not have the USA stamp on them, where are they made then? I buy Snap-on tools because I want to support the USA since I know it's one of the last places on earth to retain quality. Are they making these things elsewhere now? Why are some coming without the USA stamp?

Yep, old thread with old news.

The F80's are made still in the US, whether stamped or not. S-O corporate has never released teh true story behind the removal of the USA stamp tho so speculation still runs rampant.

I have several of the F80 first runs from back in 2007. Some have the USA stamped in the head and others do not. All 2007 mfg date. All mine are the "non-A" suffixed old style access plate attachment.

Still a great tool that is well worth the price paid, whether new off the truck or used.

People, don't go here! When I was new to this forum, I got my *** handed to me for wondering why there was no USA stamp on my F80. It was pointed out to me that the Snap on website showed the COO to be USA. That should be good enough.

Look at snapped website under country of orgin it still says USA

Anyway I snapped one of the flanges that holds the ratchet head. Anyone know if a breaker bar handle will work. Btw it was only 75ftlbs

Thanks for the helpful info guys. I did a further search and found all the speculation and info about this. I wish they would just put a damn USA stamp on the tools.
