Snap on general service 1/2 set

I'm wondering if $200 is a good price for a used set? Everything is there and it's in good condition. Go Or No Go?

I wouldn't say $200 is a you **** price, but the cost of a ratchet and breaker bar brand new alone would be pushing that so I'd say it is a good deal. If I came across it, I'd mill over it long and hard.

If it is the 17 piece set that sells new for $627, I'd say that is a darn good price.

Co worker has that same 17 piece set. Bought it off the truck for $350 on sale of course . So $200 is great price!

There is some truth here. Used Snap on in good condition will normally bring about 1/2 of retail. I see that in my store, on ebay and at well run auctions. As SO raises their prices, the prices of used goes up. Note, the key is to keep it in good condition.

If you are talking about these sets $200 is fair. Not great and not bad. My sae set was $225 brand new and my metric was $175 used. I got both sets off the truck a number of years ago. The new one was the equivilant of today's rainmaker deals. The used one he literally picked up the stop before me on trade so I grabbed it. They both get used a ton. They are the older cheaper plastic trays so they don't really hold up well.

One the older plastic trays, I have started to cut cardboard to fit the underside and have stapled and or taped the cardboard to the trays. Really stiffens them up. You could certainly glue some type of thin board to it too. That would be more permanent.

Well I ended up getting it for $180. The ratchet is undergoing service so that's why it's not in the tray. I'm happy for it being my first compleat snap on set. Now to stay away from the truck

I would be happy with that price. Maybe a little on the higher side, but good nonetheless. Nice job.

Is that rust on the breaker bar? How bad are the sockets?

It's just a little from the chrome being chipped. The sockets have rust from bolts that where rusty. A couple sockets and maybe the breaker bar I'll warranty but its still good for the few projects I do.

Yes, stay away until you can get a set of deeps to complete the set you have now.
