So I've had this ratchet sitting around my house for a good 10 years. I know it's nothing special but It was my buddies dads that he abandoned, it was in poor shape and just got worse since at the time, to me it was just a hammer, or a pry bar when was too lazy to get they proper tool. So now being bored as hell waiting for summer, along with my last Craftman ratchet that was warrantied for a china replacement, I decided to return this one to working order.
Blasted and filed out the dings
Changed the shape a bit, but it looks smoother this way anyway
Shined up the head and left the rest
Fresh black oxide.
The contrast between the gloss and matte didn't stand out as much as I had hoped. I did the same on one of my pistol restorations and it is much more noticeable. But no biggie, it will be beat up come summer anyway.
And lastly, does anyone know if there is a rebuild kit for these. The one listed in the pdf seems to be non existing Now.
