I was planing on purchasing a set of snap-on screwdrivers today from the snap-on guy I was waiting around my neighbors shop chatting with the guy's for a while. The snap-on fella finally shows up so I ask abought the screwdrivers 8 piece industrial finish 112$ list on snap-on website. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...D=6146&group_ID=2658&store=canada&dir=catalog
I was talking with the guy for a few minutes and I asked how much for the set he said well I can do 179$+tax for you young lad. (the chrome set is only a few bucks more) my reply well sir these screwdrivers retail for 112$ on the snappy website. He say's yea but that is the suggested price. SO I say thanks anyways looks Like I'll take all my future purchases to the fellow in the next town over Bye the way I'm going to be apprenticing to be a tech next year and walked off the truck

Well now I guess I'll have to drive half hour to the next town and then track down the snappy guy there. I know he is suppost to be a good fellow with fair prices so I'll see what happens now I have to wait tell next week to get my screwdrivers :(

i am sorry about that problems... it can make techs as not happy because some dealer dont make money so they just increase little money to keep business run...

i have my snap on guy and he sold me a lot of used tools for much cheaper than orignal price of new tools. i always ask him for tool to see how much for tool that he will sell to me.

I would report him to the Corporate Headquarters. I believe that there contract with Snap-On addresses this very problem. Try to gouge, and they will pull the franchise.

That is so wrong; being gouged the the Snap On truck driver; if anything it should be less than the MSRP. Report him to Snap On Corporate; I'm sure they will not be happy to hear what is happening ..

You should of laughed in his face and told him to **** off old man. Especially if he called you young lad. Stuff like this just makes me very mad. Suggested retail is usually 50% markup most times more likely 2x. If you wait long enough a new driver will have his route and you can save some gas money. Oh, this is Canada. It should be a little more but not that much more especially with the weak dollar nowadays.

WTF? I'm assuming the guy figured since you were a "walk in" customer he could price gouge you? Thats rediculous. As said I'd contact Snap-On corporate and file a complaint. I mean.. charging list would be expected but a 50% markup OVER list? Nuts

*****.. I know how it is when you anticipate getting a new tool (or 3 ;) ) and it falls through. What a jerkoff.

Well, the good news is that you still have your money. And as long as you have the $$$, YOU are in control. There are plenty of other ways to get those screwdrivers you want. If you can afford to be patient, you WILL find them at YOUR price. Remember: part of the fun is the hunt!

That *****. I, too, would never buy from him again just to teach him a lesson. You could always buy off the website for this set. I think it's free shipping, no?

Nope...... he was hoping to have a great pay day!!!!!!:bounce:

What I meant was maybe he had just dealt with a bunch of non-regular customers jumping on the truck demanding warranties or something similar...and was trying to make up some inventory credits.

Or maybe he is just a jerk :dunno:

The guy that I use always gives me a great deal...and I mean *great* deal. He usually gives me at least 40% off the website prices. He's not in the same city as I am so he usually ships stuff to me. I've bought lots of stuff off him and have never had a problem. I found him off ebay and he's been great!!

If any Canadians are interested, PM me and I'll give you his contact info.

Cheers,

Jason

Okay...

What I meant was maybe he had just dealt with a bunch of non-regular customers jumping on the truck demanding warranties or something similar...and was trying to make up some inventory credits.
Warranties don't cost them anything for the most part. Just the hassle of losing an item from their inventory for a couple of weeks, and boxing it up and shipping it with all the rest of the returns. For the most part, they're reimbursed for shipping.

When you guys walk onto a truck and the guy won't warranty something for you, or pulls **** like this, go call corporate and get ahold of that man's DISTRICT MANAGER. You want the guy who is directly responsible for your region as a whole to know what kind of **** he's pulling. I promise you it WILL make a difference.

They are REQUIRED to warranty tools. It's part of their job, and it's in their contract.

As for charging prices ABOVE list? That's some kind of retarded, right there... Talk about fast ways to kill you business. His DM will be pretty interested to hear about that. Might help to mention 2 or 3 fairly expensive items that you'll now be buying from Matco. ;)

my snap on guy is great to me as he make a deal with me and he sold me below than website like 36in long prybar as it is list 96.00 but he gave me a sale price like 10 dollars off so i paid 86 dollars because i got it for much cheap than ebay because some bidder bid over the price and had pay more money to shipping. i found one bid that almost 100 dollars and highest bidder had to pay 20 dollars for shipping.

also i had problem with my mac tool guy few years ago about ecomic 40 in wide mac tool that ibought 1,000 dollars in few years ago. i have lot of sockets on top wide drawer and slides work fine but already bent. i had mac tool guy to look and said it will be warranty to replacement but he said it will need move other drawers to prevent future problem . i told him that i had no room to move it. then i file a reports and mail to his district manager and mac tool headquarter in ohio. then mac tool local district manager show up and talking with me about mt complain. i told him that i am not happy that it dont have replace since i had my mac tool guy as it already order but he never get it to install for almost 1 and half months. district manager said i need upgrade toolbox as same price for my bottom box and normal price will low when i get it to trade.
then i got a good deal with snap on for one year old KRL1001 (it is from my good tech friend that worked next few bays of my area. i got it for 2,500 dollars with trade in. i had NO PROBLEM WITH SNAP ON TOOLBOXES since i had it for one year and still love my snap on toolboxes.

Yea he pissed me off but It is not worth my time to bother with it I may call the district manager fella and let him know what is going on. He told that price to my mechanic aswell before I asked abought them so It was not just a guy walking up and him thinking he could screw me over I have heard he does this quite often and is obviassly not affraid to do this to my mechanic who has bought a hell of alot of tools from him makes me wonder how much the guy's have overpaid I will let them know to check out the prices on the snap-on site to compare with him I am sure they will be rather upset abought this too :shocking:
