Snap On Hard Handled Ratchets

What are the benefits of a hard handled ratchet over a traditional chrome handled ratchet? In watching ebay, it seems like the hard handled models go for more than the traditional ones, and I wonder if I am missing out on something I should have?

They ****. Bug clunky handles just beg to have you smack your knuckles on something or at best the are just bulky for working in tighter areas. I can see no advantage unless you are putting huge torque where it hurts your hand or on an production line. I had one...now I don't. Leave them for the tool collectors is how I felt.

They don't make them any more and people seem to love the hard handles and will pay a premium for them. I prefer the regular chrome handles myself.

I think its mainly the comfort factor, I know in the winter I would rather be holding a placcy handle compared to the "traditional chrome"

I dont think Snap On make the hard handle ratchets anymore That may be why they tend to hold their value a bit more

I have one of the 900 series "handle" type with rubbery/plastic grip; I think I had much of the same attitude of those around here... hard handle or chrome... stuff the softer/newer designs.... I've been using the soft grip ratchet every day for 2 to 3 months now.... I've grown to appreciate it! Not as bad as I assumed they were!

I may try one, they seem a real step up from the large plastic hunks they used to use. Softer and smaller is all good.

well i has a many chrome ratchets without handles. when i am work in tight area then i will use normal ratchet BUT if require the high torque then i prefer to use ratchet handle as easy on my big hands...
