Thinking of buying the snap on harley diagnostics interface (EAK0347L01A). Curious if you think there is any "discount opportunity" on the truck, or is the $695 price firm?
Also has anyone used this adapter with a Solus, and were you happy with the results?

Meet with ur local snap on rep. There's some wiggle room. I will say cash is King so ease into it with how much, then is there a discount, then if you don't like the offer throw out there " what is the cash price if I pay you in full today. Also you can ask if you can halve it or break it down into multiple payments. I have a good dealer and he's flexible and has wiggle room based on what the item is and if he's a high volume seller. Some have enough buying power they buy stuff in large quantities.

Also find out if you have multiple franchisees in your local area as it helps if there's more as it creates competition. We have 5 local dealers and the one I use is the only one who's in town 5 days a week as the others venture out of town or out of state and my dealer is the newest to the business and even has a driver running his truck and he sells boxes and runs hot shot for stuff customers need ride away to better serve customers if something pops up for say a tech breaks a tool and can't wait till the next week.

I don't work for a shop or anyone. My stuff is more hobby. Come to think of it back in 94 I was completely against snap on tools because of pricing back then with the franchisee then. He's still around but there's other options.

Also I had the solus edge and it was a good tool. Kept it 8 months and upgraded to the Modis Edge to scope more as I have a Picoscope already but wanted to not have to drag the Pico out all the time.

Used that for awhile and the Zeus came out. Wish I would've known it was on the way as I would've waited for the Zeus and passed on the Modis Edge.

Go to or Google Snap On Solus Edge or Modis Edge training and you can see what they have to offer free of charge.

Thanks dtnel, I am very happy with my SO dealer, very flexible and offers discounts on some items. If it was a bread and butter, needed at work tool, I would just buy it, trying to make that purchase off the sales add/ shelf. Since this is more of a personal tool, I thought I'd do a little research before taking the plunge.

I didn't even know that Snap On had a diag tool available. From just looking it up on the website it was fairly vague in what the capabilities are. Is it J1850 only or will it work on Can Bus systems also? Are you looking for a system for your bike alone or are you working in a shop environment? Daytona Twin Tec has some units available that may work for you.

X1 Mike yes it has both capabilities. This is primarily for my own bike but I could see it being used also for customer diagnostics. Browsing the twin-tec website, I like their products and believe they offer more as far as parameter manipulation (especially with an aftermarket programmer) and diagnostics in one combined unit. Thanks for the link...now to decide which one!

Before you pull the trigger check with the S/O Dealer and see if the J-1850 pass thru programmer from snap on or drew tech will work with your bike. As a matter of fact check with drew tech as they have a j box that's upgradeable in the future.

Another thing to keep in mind that I didn't take into consideration when buying my scan tool is that when the scan tool is outdated you'll be lugging a brick around to be able to use the scope. IF you get a separate scanner and scope and/or j box then you have the j box being upgradeable and the scan tool separate so when you trade your scan tool you'll still have the j box and I'm saying this regardless of who you get it from.

Gonna expedite my paying off the Zeus quickly and make my next big ticket a j box either from Drew Tech or the Pass Thru from Snap-On.

Drew Tech also has a J Box program for shops where they send it to you and you store it in your shop and each time you need a flash it's a flat fee and they do it from their end remotely so you don't have to farm stuff out for those who do that. Rather you keep it in house, pay Drew a fee and as long as you use it once a month I believe they don't charge a storage/dormancy fee and you can keep cranking on other shop work rather than babysitting a program session.

I threw some of the J Box stuff in there for those who have a shop, do mobile diagnostics, etc as it can be a timesaver from what I've read.

Good luck with whatever you pull the plug on.

IF you have a good dealer, good credit and he's a platinum dealer I think it is he can get you as low as 9.9% on a EC unless you have one like I do where he let me keep $4K on truck balance without interest but I paid $500 a month minimum and when I could paid extra.

It is bad enough the **** van got me for 2300 for a new Solus Legend, but $700 for a effn cable just for MoCo bikes is beyond belief even for the **** Van
