I recently bought a snap on gold torx set. I was disappointed to see that the t27 and t30 are 3/8 drive. I work on a lot of toyotas and their door handles require t30 for removal. Ford also uses t30 and one manufacture-can't recall which- uses t27. Using 3/8 drive for these fasteners would have simply been inconvenient. I got to looking at my gear wrench torx and the hex shank is approximately the same size. I pressed the gold bits out of the snap on sockets and pressed them into the gear wrench sockets. I also reinstalled the gear wrench bits into the snap on sockets. These bits dropped in so I used a stripped stranded copper wire to take up the slack.

The gold bits in these sizes are not available in 1/4 drive. Plus I have craptastic service from my dealer- been trying to get a boot for my air ratchet for over a month

The bits should be the same size I have broken standard torx and my dealer would swap for gold bits on them

Be careful with the gold bits I gave stripped torx heads more on gold bits than standard due to that they are stronger than the fastener being removed keep this in mind with the gold bits

It is a 1/4" hex. The snap on is slightly larger than the gw- hence needing the wire to take up the slack. I didn't pull out the micrometer so I don't have the exact sizing

I too work on a lot of Toyota / Lexus. I just use my Snap-On 3/8 in a 1/4 body ratchet.

I actually have a Viking 3/8 in 1/4 body air ratchet, visible in one of the above pictures. However I use my 12" long handled snap on extension when tearing these doors apart, it is 1/4 drive so I needed these to be 1/4 drive
