For Me it's mostly about the dealer the 1st guy was good and got a few thousand dollars worth of tools from him. The dealer at my old work he would sell everything at the same price as the website we had a constant rotation of aircraft mechanics so they would always buy stuff. The newbies what always tell me what a good deal they got but it was always after they bought a $10,000 toolbox. The new place I'm at now the guy at least does a few dollars off the online price so I'm more inclined to buy more from him.

There are story tellers, and there are pathological liars.

But these three posts tell me all I ever need to know about the OP

You folks can buy what he is selling, but I caution you to look real hard at the store.

LOL
What you believe or not makes no difference to me whatsoever. It’s all true regardless of what you “think”...

These conversations get me so worked up and frustrated I feel like going out to the shop and pounding on a fender with my bad shoulder . If only NOLA was around to help out . Sigh .

What do you mean? It's a totally believable story. In fact, I share a very similar experience.

The old timer I work for opened a business to do in frame engine rebuilds on garbage trucks. He said you get used to the smell after a while and it's not that bad. He also said snap on is junk, even though he owns $250K worth of snap on tools. He says he always reaches for his harbor freight tools first and says they are just as good.

He made his millions selling his idea of Amazon to Jeff Bezos. He doesn't care about the money that much and would rather rebuild garbage truck engines. Even though he has millions, he drives a 77 Monte Carlo because it doesn't have all that complicated computer stuff you don't need anyhow.

I believe my old timer and drive a 84 Celica even though my family has a fleet of Ferrari's and Bugatti's. My brother even uses his Bentley to do Uber driving to pick up extra cash on the weekends.

Oh, and the girl in my avatar is my girlfriend that my wife allows me to have. She even sleeps in the same bed with me and my wife.

So yes, I do believe the OP and think his story is very true. :)

I have met some very eccentric rich people, Bill Gates dresses like he shops at Goodwill. A huge Business park owner where I used to work looked homeless and collected cans at the gas stations all day. Turns out he had a net worth of about 145 mill and did that to pass the time.

I get a hard time because I inherited a large sum of money when my grandparents passed and I still daily a 1997 Nissan when I could have something much nicer easily. There's alot more than meets the eye for some but others you can tell when they are a pathological liar

His story went sideways on me when he said he had "Many 50 ton haul trucks" and he himself was doing a head swap with the help of our Author.
The sheer impossibility of that alone left me snickering. These trucks that cost over a million bucks a piece and run around on $40,000 tires typically need a crew of mechanics to keep them alive and running, so if you have ever even been around them and seen the shops that do the maintenance on them, or the immense infrastructure to keep these monsters working,.... Well it would be a pretty strange to see any heavy repair done out of the shop, let alone a head gasket, the head on one of these weighs thousands of pounds and you basically will spend a week just digging it out using overhead cranes and a couple good men.

Then again the two time world champion rodeo star seems to attract extraordinary folks and circumstances around him.......:headscrat

Still trying to understand the concept that a mass produced ford truck is built to the same quality and standards as a hand built Carbon Fiber/titanium supercar.... I'll work on it. :lol_hitti

It’s pretty clear some of you have had your egos and feelings hurt and are resulting to personal attacks to feel better about getting your feelings hurt.
I’ve got thick skin so don’t care in the least what any of you say. I’ve spoken the truth.

And Robert Hass:

It’s VERY CLEAR you have no knowledge whatsoever about haul trucks, their engines, or even the size of the shop to maintain those trucks. Even the largest of aggregate mines have fairly smaller shops than a guy would think. Although this mans shop is a former horse arena so it’s the largest shop I’ve seen in any quarry. And I’ve seen many considering I use to work for the 4th largest aggregate company in the nation.
But he also manufactures crushers, screen towers, and conveyor ystems in that arena.

And just to save you from looking like an idiot if you ever discuss haul teuck engines again... their heads don’t weigh thousands of pounds and require cranes to lift them. Each cylinder has it’s own individual head which weighs maybe around 60-70lbs and we lifted them off by hand.

I know a guy, mumbles when he talks, wears mechanic cloths and I really don't know his net worth but its got t be significant. He doesn't drive new, usually something he bought at auction. Looking at him, talking for a short time you would never think he is a multi millionaire genius type.

Oh and yes, I’m not at all impressed with the quality of lambos. They’re more show than quality, constantly having problems. Now the R’8’s are high quality machines IMO and never seem to have issues.

So you will spend 4 paragraphs explaining why you don't care what I think.

Shut me up for good by giving a name to this 2 time world champion billionaire diesel tech.

You might be surprised to know that the R8 was on the Gallardo platform and is currently on the Huracan platform. Take a look at the engines and you'll notice more than a few similarities...

My father was a mech for a cat dealer and l am a mech on large industrial equipment and CNC machines. My fathers 1974 42" 3/4 drive snap on ratchet is still going strong. I don't know how many budd wheels the damn thing has taken off with a 6' pipe over the handle and my 300 lbs father bouncing on it while I supported the extension with a handy man Jack. When he retired I asked to buy it but he just gave it to me.

I have a 24" snap on 1/2" drive flex handle that I use everyday (more like most would use a standard 3/4 drive and I have bounced on it (240 lbs).

I have used all the major American brands including some German (hazet and stahlwille)
I find I prefer wright and Sk ratchets in normal to long length ratchets to snapon due to head size and cost, I also buy sk or wright sockets and wrenches but to say that snap on is junk is just BS and he's a blow hard.

Other than wright they make the strongest ratchets bar none. I give the edge to snap on only because a repair kit replaces the gear and pawl where wright the gear is an integral part of the head.

And there are only 10 haul trucks, 4 excavators, 4 loaders, and two dozers (for large equipment). . He’s a pretty small operation. But he does all the mechanicing himself and pulls his guys for help when needed. He’s a brute of an old man who loves to work.
The wildest thing I seen him do was about theee weeks ago. He took an engine out of one of his haul trucks and stuck that massive Detroit into an Hitachi 700 excavator. It was twice the size of the engine that came out of the excavator and hung about two feet through the top so he had to make a custom hood to fit over it too. Did all of that in two weeks! He is the most mechanically gifted man I’ve simply ever met.

Already knew that wasn’t talking just about engines, the cars as a whole. They do blow front drive shafts alot but they are also heavily modified. The R8’s are bine stock.

While they are not the same all the hand crafted super stuff isn't always as good but,,,, you can buy basically the same Ford truck for 35 k or 60,,, same ****** and basically same engine, different seats and options, radios etc. No difference in build quality.

In my immediate family, there are 3 lamborghinis, two McClarens, two R8’s, a porche and a ferrari. And even though you could buy 10 Ford super duty’s for one McClaren, aren’t any of them higher quality than a Super Duty.

FFS, post a picture of your driveway when the whole clan shows up in their supercars for Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe you could line them up and jump over them in a Superduty, ala Evel Knievel!
