Hello.

I would like to buy a wrench set from Snap-on here in Spain, and I've some questions for the people here that owns Snap-on.

¿are worth the price?
¿are made in the United States?

I love wrench rolls, and I want to know if Snap-on makes such a kit. my most used numbers are from 7 to 22, so, I dont know if is better to buy spares and fill up my roll, or jump and buy a full set.

(I'll first try one 17mm wrench before paying so much money :eyecrazy: )

Snap-on, (or SNA) is manufacturing adjustable wrenches in the old headquarters of ACESA, in my city. But, I can't literally find Snap-on Products here...
I've been looking at one spanish website, says that they're the official distributor, but the limited amount of items shocks me. ¿Any ideas?

I've been also thinking about Wright.

¿Alguien de Vitoria o de España que sepa algo?

Thanks to all.

If ordering from the website they usually do not give any discount for buying the set. So it will cost the same if you just buy them individually as you need/want them. Also here in America they come in plastic mold not a wrench roll so you’ll have to supply your own roll. They are very good wrenches though if you are a professional mechanic and/or have the money.

How long have Acesa wrenches been out of production? I buy them in the used market at times.

No information on SO in Spain, sorry.

I am not sure about Snap On but these "channellock" adjustables that I really like have Spain stamped into their handle...

Snap-On is a premium tool in the USA which to me means good steel, nice finish, built to be used every day by a person in their job. Has a lifetime warranty so no worries about breaking it. Which you would probably have to abuse it to break it. As you found, they come with a premium price as well.

Ah, the Snap-on (Acesa) adjustable crowsfoot:

attachment.php

Irimo/Acesa/Palmera = SNA Europe .... and established Herramientas Eurotools SA, then produced (no longer?) "Snap-On Eurotools" in one of their factories in Spain. I don't know how they got away with producing tools with the Snap-on name on the tools, but don't buy them thinking that you're getting a genuine Snap-on wrench!!

There's some more info in this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48223

If you are getting one wrench, are you going to get a regular combination wrench or are you going to get the FD+ wrench with the modified open-end profile? If you want the FD+ style wrench, then I could see it being worth it. If you want the regular combination wrench, I see no reason to spend that much money. As an alternative , take a look at Williams "SuperCombo" wrenches as they use a very similar profile to the FD+ (Snap-on owns Williams so it's not surprising).

Since you mentioned Wright, they use a Snap-on FD+ style profile on their "Wrightgrip" combination wrenches.

The wrenches shown below, from top top to bottom:

Wright WrightGrip
Danaher/Armstrong style
Williams SuperCombo
Snap-on FD+

Hello,
They are worth it: yes
Made in USA: yes
Very expensive too, if you make them through ebay make sure they are manufactured in usa, as you have said little have to do with those manufactured here.

Grip-on is also made in Spain, I think the pressure pliers factory for Snap_on.

Baho manufactures in Spain, Portugal and Taiwan.

They have very well done things but it is not at the level of Snap_on.

Both Snap-on and Wright, are premium Made in the USA wrenches with a lifetime warranty. You can find good deals on eBay - Wright tools is more affordable, quality is comparable to SO and it comes in a wrench roll.

.They may be manufactured by Irega.

Hello to all, thanks for the help.

I'll reply one by one.

-Acesa went out of production slowly, first, with the creation of "Herramientas eurotools" (Acesa, Palmera, Irimo and Irazola), and then with the integration into SNA Europe. This group of brands were just a bunch of factories in poor economic condition and that's why Snap-on can bought them. Progressive introduction of other brands of the group, such as bahco, erases the local brand, but not the factory. For example: Acesa (one of the most prominent and biggest of spain) still makes adjustable wrenches for the SNA-Group here in Vitoria. they even make the Snap-on branded one, and for europe the same tool is branded bahco. The Bahco branded screwdrivers are made in the old IRAZOLA factory. Palmera was simply shut down and Irimo also, but they mantain a line of chinese made tools, only because Irimo was in Spain like HAZET in Germany or Snap-on in USA.

-Grip-on is an independent brand, but most of the sales are for third countries.

-If you see an adjustable wrench made in spain, and not from SNA group of brands, is 100% a Irega. we're very proud of them, they're all over the world and the factory ONLY makes adjustable wrenches. Take care of them :)

These four dead dinosaurs were the biggest, but they're some more still producing: Bianditz, Super-Ego, Zubi-ondo, Alvis (my favourite screwdrivers), Ega-master...

To finish this biblic text, I want to say that maybe my country is not very known for tool making, but, we are very proud of our manufacturing, and if you own a spanish tool, remember the people that made them, the concern about quality, because that was all needed in that times, Quality.
