An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Last week my Snap On dealer was running a deal on the 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive flex head soft grip Dual 80 ratchets and get a free 6 piece set of Instinct screwdrivers. So I picked up a set and after using the Instinct soft grip screwdrivers I must admit I dig them better than the Witte made Matco screwdrivers I've been using for the last two years. I love that they have hte hex bolster on them so you can use a wrench to help loosen tight / rusty screws, which the Witte drivers do not have. I can see many more of these finding their way into my tool boxes.

I'm a big fan of the soft grips too. I know they get bad reviews here from some preferring the hard instincts. I have both the hard and soft instincts and always seem to grab the soft.

I must admit I don't like soft grips generally as they tend to pick up grit, but the Instinct grips are great.

A lot of companies insist on making really small handles on their smaller drivers so you don't over torque them. Snap on seem to realise that your hand still stays the same size and put a decent hande on! They also make a hard handle in the same pattern (coloured grey where the soft is black) which you may prefer!

You can't go wrong with that deal though!

The witte ones have a pass-through you can stick another screw drive through for the same effect, just different mechanism.

What do you guys use to clean the soft handles? I just picked some up on Ebay, and the handles have old built up black grease

dish soap, hot water, and a nylon brush seems to work pretty well for me.

3M adhesive remover wipe down followed by Windex or any glass cleaner.
BTDT.

The goo doesn't bother me.
The burrs on the handles bug the f&*k out of me .

LOL.

Honestly, I just try to keep them away from sludgey oil situations to begin with...yes, the soft grip **** when it comes to getting slimey, but I prefer them to anything else if they can be kept clean-ish...

I've been getting in to chainsaw/trimmer work lately, and "justified" a new set of soft Instinct flat tips, and I love them...I've noticed that "clean" oil, like from chain lube top offs, usually just wipes clean...

Yep, the Instinct kool-aid is pretty good...

I like em, but I recently got the new long hard handles. Now I want hard handles.

The hard handle purist hate them but I think IMHO the soft grip instincts are the best. The are soft enough for comfort and are very "grippy". But yet clean up great almost as good as the hard handles. I also have Cornwell(witte) and the tips I believe are better but the snap on handles are the best ever

I was initially biased against them having a ton of the old hard handle style screwdrivers; after getting a couple of the instincts from warranty exchanges (hard handle cracking/crumbling issues)... I have come to appreciate them. If you don't have any; get a #2 phillips and give one a try. They really do seem to give you more torque and grip better then the old hard handle style.

I have a set and they are great. When mine get dirty I wipe them down with some PB Blaster on a rag and then windex and they stay pretty clean.

PB Blaster has acid in it which is not good for your skin and Windex has Ammonia in it which is not good for rubber or plastic. You're killing your hands AND your screwdrivers.

They're great to use and they're much easier to clean than some make them out to be. I picked up a set of 8 green soft handles for $100 on special. Eventually I'd like to get the long cabinet set as well. Simple Green works in a pinch as a cleaner. But as others have said any glass/window cleaner works fine as well.

I recommend and use this.
