Snap-on Internet order delays??

I placed my first Snap-on Internet order yesterday (8/8). When I placed the order I received a message advising that due to weather at the distribution center orders may be delayed. Tonight (8/9) I checked the order status again and was advised my order is "in process".

As you can imagine I am anxious to get my first Snappy tools. All the items in my order were in stock. Doesn't Snap-on have multiple distribution centers? Anyone know what the bad weather situation is? What is a typical time frame for shipping of Snap-on Internet orders?

Thanks for your feedback!

P.S. I would call them but I have been in a training class.

I've made 3 different orders which involved about 16 separate items and with the exception of a few, every item came in a separate package at different times. each group would trickle in over a 1-2 week span. And when I say one item, I mean one 1/4 comfort grip handle out of 4 ordered in its own box half the size of a shoebox! the other 3 shipped together and the 1/2 and 3/8 handles were shipped similarly. this is the result of them having shipping centres scattered all over the place. i paid $5.09 shipping per order (us Canadians don't get the free shipping) and if I had to ship these items via purolator in the scattered fashion they did it would have cost me about $50! just another contributing factor to their high prices I guess! but I digress....i'll return to your original question now.

the time frame i experienced ranged from 2 days per item to 2 weeks for others and all mine were in stock. I'm in Canada so my shipping times will be longer. I've heard some people on here order something one day and get it the next. From what I can gather, "in process" means they are retrieving and packing your items. when it ships, you'll be able to see a tracking number if you check your order online. but worry not, you'll get your new Snap On goodies before too long!!

Internet orders are usually shipped out of the main dc located in crystal lake, il. Orders are usually processed the same day that they are placed.

Everytime i get on the website it shows N/A where the price is and when i add anything to the cart it states "item not found". It's been like this for probably 2 weeks. Anybody else have this problem?

I have had a number of items show up at different times; like people have noted, sometimes certain tools/parts etc. are on back order, this causes delays. These were warranty items; some things I ended up calling customer service about, they were on back order but I would not have known otherwise... if you have a issue, call customer service. They have always been helpful for me and are nice folks to deal with... good luck! :)

Thanks to everyone for your feedback!

The Snap-on Internet order I placed on 8/8 in the PM was processed by Snap-on and picked up by UPS in the PM on 8/9. UPS tracking claimed the package would be delivered to me on 8/10 but that did not occur. Appears the package has not even left the Chicago (Palatine) area yet. With a bit of luck I hope to see it tomorrow (8/11). :bounce:

Sounds like Snap-on could use some lessons in logistics.

Or---it sounds like you could use some lessons in patience.

From your first post:
due to weather at the distribution center orders may be delayed.

Blame mother nature.
If you wanted it over-nighted due to an extreme situation and paid the very high $$$ cost, then I can see a beef.

Other than that, OTR shipping is good but not an exacting science since fuel costs force carriers to bundle or re-route goods for maximum efficiency. Some shippers even tranfer mid-point for final delivery to the USPS which slows delivery down even more.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but Snap-On is usually nothing but professional when it comes to getting goods to its customers. BTDT x 1000.

I wouldn't dispute your observation. I am impatient. I also have high expectations. I gladly would have paid the higher shipping cost for the expedited service. I have learned (once again) that free shipping is worth what you pay for it.

However it is troubling that the Snap-on Web site still says my order is "in process" while I received an E-mail with a UPS tracking number which UPS cannot tell me the location of.

LOL for the "impatience disorder." I understand. :)

Again, that is UPS doing what they do and the system they work within. It's not exactly transparent.

I get a lot of Fed-Ex packages that are delivered to the house by the USPS on final door drop off delivery to save money by the sender. Individuals cheap out, businesses do the best they can at the best price point.

Hell I have a S-O drivers who weekly appears every week on schedule forget to place my tool order thus I often have to wait two or even three weeks for a tool. If I *****, they overnight it to my house. Talk about pissed.

I also do S-O website orders and have even paid via snail-mail and wait for S-O to clear and process and then deliver.

Snap-On knows their **** and their customer service folks are top notch, knowledgable and very capable.

If you need it in a hurry, then you have to pay in-a-hurry prices.
Same as any vendor you buy from.

Snap-on processed the order within 24 hours and it was picked up by UPS. Snap-on has no control over UPS.

Actually it was closer to 26 hours from time of order to time of receipt by the shipper. Something strange occurred as the package has now been scanned at the destination UPS facility but Snap-on still thinks the order is "in process." Actually UPS must think Snap-on has some control since UPS told me to call the shipper (Snap-on) in the morning to begin an investigation.

Let's not beat this dead horse :deadhorse any longer... I'll have my shiny new Snappy stuff  tomorrow and in the future I will use expedited shipping or maybe even lookup my local Snap-on Rep. Then there is always the Matco guy just two houses from me.

Please, please, please... let's move on.
