I remember these about 20+ years ago. They were expensive new IIRC but what are they worth now? I have a beat on a nice lot of tools but the guy insists I have to buy the tool box as well even though I don't need it. If it's worth me flipping and just keeping the tools then I will likely get it.

I'd imagine there's still demand. Plenty of older NASCAR fans out there.

What's he asking for the box?

Are there $16,000 current list price tools inside those boxes?
When I do a bulk buy, I always figure 25% of truck price.
Engravings, rust, & obsolescence (electronics) = less.
I'd flip the boxes for $2000. maybe sell the side hanger separately.

I don't know the exact breakdown of prices but judging by the pics it is loaded with modern tools. No engravings, all in nice condition. I have heard that these boxes are rare and still worth some money. Just wondering if it is worth my time.

Nice box it would be cool to have. I know Snap-on did tons of specialty boxes like that I don’t know if they still do or not.

if tool selection proper good and stuff you mainly want and condition of everything good then worth it as sell the main boxes and hangon side drawers always in demand .
Is a big plus if boxes proper clean/tidy and liners good .
really little hassle clean it, photo shoot it and upload it to usual online sale platforms.
looks nicer without the graphics and quicker sale possibly but that just my opinion !

There's one just like it on ebay minus the side box, they are asking 7k. I'd think more like 4k would be a deal.

Guy emailed me back telling me $5k. I just have no use for the box and don't want to get stuck with it. Tough decision.

Is he saying $5K on top of what you're paying for the tools, or $5K for the lot?

If it's $5K for the lot I don't see how you can lose.

+1
obviously we haven't seen the tools or exact box condition but if it decent selection tools you want and of significant value and all in decent order stop flip flopping and buy it .
side boxes sell easy and the main boxes sell pretty easy and more so if proper tidy .
It no real work list the boxes and if tools good haul you can afford take a lower offer on boxes if want them gone fast .

The only thing I have noticed that collector items have dropped in value and really are not selling.

It would be worth a lot more if you took the graphics off and had a plain black box with a shine to it. No offense to Dale Earnhardt. And if you really want to boost the value and hide the age, clean those casters up!

Contact your local SO dealer as he may have a customer looking for that box. I used to have a 25th anniversary mustang box and almost every week the dealer would ask if I was ready to sell as he had a customer looking for one. When I finally said yes I was given a higher trade-in value than what I paid for the box.

probably but I try it first with graphics on as I had couple limited boxes sell fast no haggling and other times tend be little interest so I always try flip as is first and just clean them well and do nice photos to make buyer interest more successful .
It also pretty time consuming take graphics off and if rest of finish more worn or faded the contrast can look a bit off putting .
I'd just list it as graphics could be removed and be prepared reduce price for buyer who want do that .

I have two of those bottom boxes. Actually the KRL1003 version I bought in 1996. Back then they were right at $6000 (each) for the three bay cabinet. That one looks like a KLR1001 with a side box. Still a nice set.
