I picked up a KC 506. Anyone else have one of these?

The guy I bought it from told me it was only 10 years old lol. I didn't correct him, just paid and left.

Here it is

I really like the cool old logo, I find it neat that it was made here in canada

You might be able to pick it out in some of the pics, but it has been painted in the past. With a brush...

I'm very torn on what to do with this box. I'd like to strip it and spray it, but I'd lose that cool painted on logo on the lid. The PO taped off the logo and slapped paint all around it. It looks pretty rough up close.

The slides all work great and I'm very happy with the condition of the drawers, so I could use it as is, but I'd be happier if it was all shiny and clean.

Thoughts?

Trace out the logo on some tracing paper or whatever and make a template. Then you can re-apply it after you strip and paint it.

If you like the Logo take a pics and measurements and have a vinyl decal made up.

These are both along the lines of what I was thinking. I will probably go with a decal and burry it in clear instead of trying to peel it back to reveal paint. I will take a run at it in photoshop tonight I suppose.

I'm strongly considering changing the color of the box. I would like for it to be black with a white decal. I think this would suit me better and look very sharp. I am not a classic red toolbox kind of guy.

Instead of painting the lid black then red/whatever color, have a stencil decal made, paint the color you want, allow it to dry thoroughly, apply stencil, paint, and enjoy! If you check out my El Camino thread I had to put the kids nickname on the car and that is the route I took.
