Stopped at a garage sale and saw this sad KR-537A, last thing I needed was another tool box. I paid $50 for it and that's prob what its worth and should have left it be. The few things it has going for it is its all straight and true no dents and slides still work smoothly. I took some 0000 steel wool to the rust in a few areas, it will take a restoration very nice to someone who has the want and time.
The date on the back is 1978

I'd clean it up with a media blaster and get everything powder coated. Awesome score.

It will clean up nicely and would like restore it but just don't have the room for it. My 1950's 3 drawer CM box fits nicely with limited overhead space that's dedicated to a box.

I have the same but a Rick Mears special edition as a topper for my box at home. I'm a big fan of the setup.

I had one of those once, I bought to put on top of my 660 until I could find the correct top. Paid 50 for mine too over 20 years ago.

Nice find for 50 bucks! They clean up nice and are just funky and cool. Looks like yours has the cover hinges intact as well. If they aren't watch out for your fingers with the drop front cover!

I wouldn't have room for it either and don't need it but for 50 bucks how could you leave it. Kinda glad you found it instead of me.

Clean it up and sell it for $500.

Those are nowhere near worth $500, even in mint condition. $350 would be top price.

It's a neat box, but will take a good amount of time and effort to restore. I'd recommend you sell it for $100-150 since you don't have the enthusiasm for a restore effort.
