Hello all,

I’m wondering if anybody would know if the Snap-on KR-562 aviation mechanic “taco cart” tool box was ever made WITHOUT the drawer dividers/reinforcements that were so common to Snap-on boxes of the 80s.

Also curious if it may have come with ball-bearing slides at one time.

The only drawer that came with ball bearing slides is the drawer as shown in the picture, bottom drawer in the short side. The KR562 was basically two KR557 bottom boxes melded into one. That is why there is a small cabinet in the backside to utilize that area and not have it be dead space. On the subject of the dividers, every KR562 I sold, new or used, had them.

Gotcha. I’m looking into finding one for work, but I can’t stand those dividers. They always seem to be in the way. Friction slides I can live with however.

I think that those dividers are in there to stiffen up the bottom of the drawer. If you did remove them maybe you could add a piece of sheet metal to the bottom, spotwelded? You just want to try to keep the bottom of the upper drawer from rubbing on the top handle/finger grab area of the drawer below.

Hello jimmy,
I have a 557 with missing deep drawer , and a 562 came up in my area, also with missing drawers but one of the top shallow ones. Do you happen to know if I can take a shallow drawer/slides from a kra 557 and install it in the side drawers in the 562?

Mine is older than the one pictured, does have the low dividers, and friction slides. I bought it in the early 90's (used was ~10 years old then). Mine has a foot operated "brake" to hold the box in place (not present in the pic above).

Mine is from the 70's had the foot brake and friction slides and tow bar which went on other project. Great wheels clocked at 30 heading down a hill to a shop in town.

I have one from the '70s that doesn't have the dividers but is a little different than the conventional taco box. See link for info and pics on taco boxes.
