I have the same box, although mine may be in better shape, I still have a few bent drawers, eventually I'd like to do refurb it. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

So paint is taking a little longer than I hoped.. Also apparently snap on owns the rights to their electric orange so even with the ppg paint code my paint guy couldn't get the right mixture. So I got to pick Porsche gulf orange instead ppg 60690 I'm pretty sure. I'm super excited for that. Also I got my locks, new badge, and some trim pieces already here. Its going to be a new box when its done pretty much. Here's the gulf orange

That color should look real nice. I can understand you wanting to paint it since it's new to you. I've owned my KR1000 since it was new and couldn't bring myself to cover over the patina that it bears today...it's too much at home with all the other old **** I own.

huh I am trying to get Jorge to get me the detents but after I sent pics of my slides he said they were "custom made" and a link to their closest normal stock slides.... he told me to contact the manufacturer of the tool box for assistance. my box is a Snap on KR1000 made in 1987.

THANKS a TON for those numbers, I have the S/O numbers from other posts here that I found via search. I have been at my current job location since 12/1 after taking a transfer to be closer to home. My co worker has claimed since Day1 that "we do have a S/O guy" but he has been MIA until yesterday... He has been in it for 36 years and "thinks" that he may have some at home, but I have to wait for at least 2 weeks to see him again. I do not want to leave this box apart for that long.
I wish I could get it painted during that time, would make the wait worth it.

Since you had the box apart and you had eyeballs on it, let me ask you a question. Can the drawers be swapped up and down? Could you take a deep drawer and put it at the top and move the shorter ones down. I have a KR 660 and just like yours doesn't have a deep drawer at the top to put sockets in. Mine needs an overhaul like you did and I thought about doing that to mine while it was apart. It looks great!!! The black trim will really set it off.

I was hoping there was a chance to put a deep drawer up top, but there is no easy way. in this pic you can see there are no extra "holes or slots" for the slides. I think you could put a deep drawer up top but in order to put the two shallow drawers back to where the deep drawer came from you would have to cut a set of holes on each side for the slides. the new boxes are cool because the holes are already made.. hope this helped and didn't just confuse you :lol_hitti

I just got my KR1000/1100 combo filled with contents of 2 smaller toolboxes, and am a little disappointed, some of the drawers are too narrow to arrange things as I would have wanted to. I am more disappointed in all of the tools that I know that I have bought over the years that I am NOT seeing show up, within the garage.
The idea in getting this box was to consolidate into 1 toolbox, does not seem like that is gonna happen.

That looks great! I'd be tempted to put lite blue anodized or even painted trim on it, following the old Gulf color scheme.
