Snap On KR352

Good morning. First post here. I have researched many things on this site with great success but I'm hitting a road block this time.

I recently acquired a snap on KR352. The friction slides work but are a little stiff. Through the help of this site, I have disassembled them and found a couple to be slightly bent. I contacted snap on and was told no more are available.

Is there another source for these, maybe from a different manufacturer that used the same size? Are there any dealers out there that have some squirrelled away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My only guess would be ebay. You might be able to find a donor box.

You can make a gig. the put them in your vise to fix them.

As mentioned above, they are repairable with some patience and know how. I've seen several YouTube videos that show you precisely how to fix them up.

Do you have any links?I have a couple of slides that are bent on different boxes.The worst one I swapped out and put it in a smaller top drawer.I was trying to picture how to make a jig to use with a vice,but never tried to make one.

I haven't had the need to watch them in a long time but I will jump on YouTube to search for the ones that I watched when doing repairs to my old KR56 box.

Here is my KR352 which was made in 1957. They vary some by era with the notable changes being the Snap-On logo and the pull handles on the drawers.

Straightening drawer slides is just basic metal work. I use a vise, hammers and patience. When straightening one bent on the long axis, sometimes a length of 2x4 enables hammering past straight, so when it springs back, it's more or less straight.

I've got a KR300 with the aluminum tambour front cover, but I'm on the wrong coast for shipping. Just asking, what's an average-used KR300 worth today?

It is more like 1950, before they were stamped with date codes.

Your box is not from 1958. It's pre 1957 for sure and as pointed out, it was made in the early 50s.

As a side note, the front bottom left is where you would find a date code if it was made in the late 50s.

Your roller is one of the 1950s rollers I'm after. If you don't want it, I would gladly take it off your hands.

Thanks for the info. Not really looking to part with it as my son has gotten into going to auctions with me and he wants to keep it for his tools. It came with a 2 drawer Vulcan middle box as well. Got them both for $20. I think I did OK. Can anyone tell me the best paint to match it.

You're going to need to find the 4 missing casters for your box. That may not be an easy task but Ebay has turned up miracles for me in the past. Even so, for 20 bucks you did ok on this box.

Your box will take quite a bit of work to restore properly. If you plan on painting it, be sure to take it all the way down to bare metal or your respray will look horrible. The extra time you take in prep work will pay you back 10 fold when applying a new finish.

Thanks, I actually have the casters. I had taken them off to start the stripping process in an inconspicuous area. They also needed a good cleaning to roll smoothly again.

Also does anyone know the old part number of the slides for this cabinet? I did some cleaning today bit didn't find any part numbers stamped or etched in them. I have seen 8-1257 on some forums but another said they were a little too short so im unsure but would like to know the proper number to be searching on eBay and other sites.
