Like my sig line says I'm looking for a KR660

What's up with CL prices on these? I mean $2K? Ridiculous

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/2619072382.html

I emailed this guy above and he's willing to go down to $1900. Really? I bought 3X the box for that price. The box is at least 20 years old.

I just don't get these sellers. Sometimes when you buy SO you have to deal with dreamers but it's getting to be every ad. When you really need a certain box to match another one it's down right frustrating.

why is that ridiculous? is it because you don't want to pay that price? These type of post are getting old, i mean, if you want to pay less then keep looking or buy a hf box. whoever is selling that box payed much more than 2k and it looks to be in very good condition. Who are you to decide what price he asks or even criticize it?

What should it be worth? I mean, do boxes linearly depreciate to zero with age even if well preserved, or do they eventually flatten out?

It's over priced like everything on CL with a Snappy logo on it. When you make offer more down to reality you get told you're a lowballer.
I think 90% of CL are highballers :shocking:

I'm the buyer BTW to answer your above question about me criticizing it.

They depreciate when they roll off the truck about 50% right off the top that's because they start with a huge mark up.

Most of the time when I get a 20 year old box it's beat up cosmetically and I end up spending at days cleaning, lubing, replacing sliders, etc..
The top I have that needs the bottom needed every slide replaced, sticker removal, 1 lock cylinder and key and still could use the stainless bars replaced and the whole thing could use a claybar and buffing.

I bought a kr1000 with a kr550b top box for 1500, the kr1000 is 29 inches deep much more of a box than that 660. Why are bigger boxes going for less then? Id say he is unrealistic and will hold on to that box.

It has nothing to do with new or old and they may not care. Finding someone asking 4k for a box that sold for 6k new is very easy. Will they sell it? Chances are exceedingly slim. All you can do is just make a standing offer. Not worth insulting them or trying to convert them to your way of thinking. If they're not hard up for cash they may even just assume keep it as opposed to selling it to you for your asking price.

Doesn't seem that high if it's really a "cream puff".

That size box starts to appeal to shade tree mechanics and DIY'ers.

Let the seller sweat it out for a couple weeks and then go over with dead presidents. (however it might be sold)

Negotiating price is best done FTF.

Prices on boxes are very regional. In the NE they seem to give them away. The West cost ain't that great.

Because the mid size boxes open up a huge new audience. (hobbiests, DIY'ers, shade tree mechanics, joe six pack homeowner, those with limited floor space).

That group greatly outnumbers techs.

There can be some real good deals up this way, but they are few and far between......

I got my KR1000 (greatest box EVER made, period.) for 700, and a KR249 side cab for 200. Neither were show queens, but I could care less how they look. Some minow rust at the bottoms/overspray/use in a shop setting but all slides work great.

Also saw a Kr660 going for 325 lately, but no time/space so I'll let someone else get it.

I hear ya, just need to vent about it I guess.

Couple years ago my only box was a KRA top/bottom combo. I literally couldn't work out of it anymore it was so full. I answered an ad on CL for a smaller MAC box that was $350 I think... Anyway I get there and look and tell the guy I'll take it figuring two smaller boxes is better and cheaper than a big box. He then tells me all the Snappy and Mac tools inside I can have. I had maybe a couple grand in tools from the inside of the box.
I cleaned, buffed and lubed the the slides and used it for awhile then found a KRL761/KRL791 combo w/locker for $2500. I tried to sell that Mac tool box and couldn't get anyone who wanted it. I sold it for like $200 I think later and it was extremely nice looking.

look, he set his price and that's what he wants for it...that's what he believes it's worth...YOU'RE not the buyer until you buy it. Is it overpriced? maybe yes/no depends on the person. Dont get upset because someone is selling something YOU want at a price YOU dont wish to pay.

From the condition it looks to be in, I'd say $1200 tops. Looks like a really nice box, but anything over $1200 is too much IMO. I picked up a KR560, friction slides, 1985 box, about an 8 on a scale of 1-10... for $350 and a trade of a Mac roller. If he hadn't wanted the trade, it would've been $550. And that one sat on CL for a while back in 2009 before I snagged it.

For the last 6 mos. to a year, virtually the only Snap On boxes I've seen around here have been the big rollers. Pretty strange, actually. :headscrat

I'm sorry dude but $1999 is too much for your box. Good luck though with your sale.

Here's a nice looking KR1000. Show up with a truck and 15 dead presidents and the seller might just say yes.

http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/tls/2655362675.html

I'd rather have a KR1000 the more I think about it. The KR670 won't be flush but it will have a nice little 6" ledge I can put tools on or whatever.

That one in particular looks like the anniversary edition and I don't dig the eagle on the big bottom box. blah

Then peel it off.

You're going to have to make compromises (color, model, price, location, condition, etc, etc, etc)

Either that or wait for a looong time or call the SO man and order the box of your dreams.

i didnt mean to offend you, all i'm saying is let the owner decide his price. If you don't like it then move on. There's no need to ridicule him for it. Hell, i have a '60s cornwell that i wouldnt sell for less tha 6,000. Not because i'm dumb but because if someone was willing to pay that price they must really want it.

I'm okay I just needed peer opinion. For the most part it looks like I'm correct in my pricing of it. I didn't ridicule the guy personally anyone can talk about a current CL ad it's public. I didn't post his name, email or IP addy or anything.
I get the point you're making too I just don't like it
