I think you will find that they are actually an aluminum extrusion; I had to make one out of a piece of square tubing for my 655. At 5' it doesn't look bad, but they don't have the edge ridges that the stock trim did.

But...In for info if someone has a source. Pretty sure they used that same trim on a large number of boxes back in the mid 80s through mid 90s. Just in different lengths.

You're right about it being aluminum. Had stainless on the brain as I'm kicking around having someone make some. Don't really want to do that though.

What all routes have you explored in your search? Anyone at snap on give you any ideas? When I went down this route before I sent a cross sectional picture to a number of extrudes to see if they produced anything similar, none of them did.

Edit, snap on couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me the name of their supplier. I would venture to guess it was the same company that produces(ed) their aluminum drawer trim that they started to use in the mid 80s.

I called SO twice without success. They didn't have any ideas either. I've done endless google searches with every keyword I could think of. Crickets.

I redid a KR555 a few years ago, all new trim was in order. My local dealer at that time had a listing for it and got it for me in a week.
I do seem to remember him digging out an old catalog with a parts break down for each model box in it. He had the top chrome caps in stock on the truck.

The trim parts used to have a part number in the price list that the dealer carried on the truck but with everything being digital now, I've not seen a price sheet in print in years.

First post here, I too am looking for these trim pieces, I went to my local dealer and he said none of the parts for the older models are available???
I thought when I bought these boxes back in 1988 that they came with a life time warranty? I have two drawers that cracked where the slide channel attaches and the dealer said all he can do is offer me a trade in on it???

I like the box, I don't care to spend $5K on a new box, when I bought this one I was told that its guaranteed forever. I guess forever is over?

I would think that parts like these would be fairly common since they used the same parts in so many other models for so many years. There's got to be thousands of these still in service. I don't ever recall seeing anyone scrap a Snap On box at the junkyard either.

Those trim pieces were used for many models, I replaced one on a KRL1001 a few years ago the part number was 10-170. I still had the bag it came on on top of my one side locker.
Even if you bought one for a larger box that was longer, you can easily cut it shorter to fit the older box.

Ordered new detents today and asked about the trim. They said it'll be back in stock the first week of February. Guess that's something.

Did you get a part number? Price? Is the 10-170 still valid?
