Hi all,

Seeing that there is quite a bit of Snappy knowledge here on the board I thought I would post a couple of questions regarding the KR7100 toolbox. I could find very little on the net other than it being refered to as the the coke machine toolbox. Were these toolboxes practical at all? Were they considered top of the line? Build quality?? Do they have ball bearing slides? Drawer dimesnions etc. Where could I find some specs or info on one of these. I see them up for sale now and then and it may be just what I'm looking for in the garage. Any input would be most welcome!! Thks.

Locker on the side, hutch up top? If that's the one it's a very nice box, heavy to move, they did/do have bearing drawers, as far as practical that is dependent on the user.

if you have a variety of tools and need the space then the box works fine, but if youhave a lot of bigger tools then the box is a little odd to work with. The hutch holds all of your manuals and the bottom thin long drawer worked great for a nut and bolt bin.....
thats about it...

Thanks for the replies!
Would anyone know the inside dimensions of the main set of drawers?

mrshaun, thanks for pointing out the wide drawer at the bottom. I didn't even notice it.

In terms of tools, I have a wide variety of tools - standard, metric and a host of air tools torque wrenches, measuring tools .... you know the whole bit.

Regarding by box upgrade/shop work area revamp, I am considering two directions a) using a large stand-up box (KR7100) b) using a roll cab like a KRL722 and building it into my workbench area. Still undecided.

mrshaun, thanks for pointing out the wide drawer at the bottom. I didn't even notice it.

The main drawers were 31 1/32" Wide X 21 29/32" Deep X 1 3/4" , 3 15/16" , or 6 3/16" High.

The wide bottom drawer is 45 1/32" Wide X 21 29/32" Deep X 3 5/8" High.

Over all dimensions are 49 5/8" Wide X 24 1/16" Deep X 74 23/32" high.

The box was a top of the line one then ,and it did have roller bearing slides and a keyless entry programable lock.

It has a net weight of 765 LBS. and has been discontinued for a long time.

It last appeared in the catalog back in 1999 as model # KR7100C and had a list price of $ 6,720.00 as of November 1998.

Thanks Bart. The dimensions are helpful. Insightful as well ... its a monster sized box with big block weight.

I may just look around for one as it may fit my needs perfectly. Kinda retro looking as well!!

A little KR7100 history. I own one. My Snap-On man at the time, Cliff, told me the box was intended to appeal to the auto body trade. The garage door-like compartment at the top is intended to store paint spray guns, and other tall items. The inside of the tall far left door is storage for long body picks.

My question is: does anyone know the difference between the KR7100 (which I own) and the KR7100A, KR7100B and KR7100C. Someone told me Snap-On changed number of deep vs. shallow drawers in each revision, but I haven't been able to confirm that.

Just looked at all me catalogs from 1987-1997 and the box has the same dimensions through the years. I've rarely heard of the letters meaning the measurements are different. Here's a pic from the 1990 catalog of all the info
