Snap-On KR761 Fair Price?

Hey, newbie here just wanted to ask what everyone thinks about a 1993 Snap-On KR761 for $1500? For 20 years old Its in Great Condition, but it may need 1 new slide (under warranty?) and has no keys, so at worst itd need both locks..($34 on Snap-on website.) I've been wrenching for a living for 10 years and still working out of a flimsy crapsman box, simply cant afford to pay $5k for a new box ,so this would be ideal for me, just wanted to see what others have paid for this style box or what they're going for in your area. What part of the country are you in? Your dealer might not cover the slide since you bought it used, just depends on your dealer. If it is the older model with two locks and 10 drawer box I think that is a little bit high for no keys and bad slide.

Here is a link of one I sold. It was in excellent condition and the 12 drawer single lock model. But I don't know what your local market is like.

If the locks are there, you should just be able to get keys from S/O. Price sounds kind of high, pics may help.

Virginia. It is the older 10 drawer model with 2 locks. Nice Cranberry color, which I love. My old snap-on guy warrantied a lock./key for my current top box I bought from a pawn shop without keys no questions, but the dealer I have at this job not so sure he would. Seems to be alot of interest in this box. I've looked into a HF box maybe the 56" model but not so sure they will hold up very long with weight. I'm very dissapointed in my Craftsman box that fell apart years ago and want something thats going to last, but I cant afford much right now.

In my area, (DFW) a decent KRL761 would be $1900-$3000 depending on condition, age, and extras. I am selling my teal home-use-only KRL761 box with stainless top and matching MAC tool cart for $2800.

Of course it hasnt sold yet either LOL

I think that box looks really great.

Earlier this year I was able to pickup the similar vintage from a great guy in the NE, the 72" version with a cover in absolutely new condition (he received it as a gift and really never used it) for $3k. He wanted $4k and I took a chance and hauled **** and picked it up that day, I thought I did really well.

I find box deals all the time and some folks want a fortune but some are priced well and some don't need the money as bad as others.

I thought it was a steal..havent bought it yet, its kinda on hold for me, but just wanted to see if that was a good price for the box. Boxes this size on craigslist here never go under 2500, more like 4k usually

It was 2-3 days. I bought it for $1500. I took 2 liners out and the writing top for the narrow drawer since my 761 didn't come with one and I was mounting a791 top on it and losing a writing surface.

OP,.i do dig on the cranberry, maybe you can talk the seller down a $100 in order to replace the locks and slides. I would do new locks over keys just so it's all yours.

I bought a 1994 KRL-761 / KRL-791 combination for $2000 about 2 years ago. That's Vermont.

I would consider $1500 to be a fair price.

I would consider $1500 to be an excellent price if the box is in excellent condition. No dents and very minimal scratching.

I dont remember any obvious dents or dings,maybe minimal scratches and I know theres some residue where previous ownere had stickers on teh drawers but nothing elbow grease cant remove. I assume that the locks can be upgraded to the tubular locks if I wanted? The lock on my top box was old style and My rep gave me a tubular style. How hard would it be to get a hutch or top box to match later down the road? Could a newer krl top fix?

I have a cranberry 761/791 combo (look at my avatar). I bought the lower box about 7 years ago in excellent condition then for $2000. It took well over a year if searching to find a matching top and that was by pure chance. It is hard to tell if you will find a matching top or side box. You might have to settle for any color.

I paid $1650 for the top. And any 791 new or old will fit.

I just realized the box you're considering is a KRL.

A top for a KRL722 would fit right on there just fine.

I thought this was a pretty good price here in SoCal and I had been looking for awhile. The like new SS top was included for $1500. It was a little messy inside (oil+grease+and what I think was spilled sugar!) but it cleaned up nice.

I would say that is reasonable price, little less if it is dinged up.

Glenmore, 1599 for your box shown looks like a definitely super deal to me, I think you could sell the top alone for 400, I have seen that box around me in Mass easily be 2-3k and 3k being more common

look for small hole near the id tag on box, if there is a hole, it has been warrantied prior.... most snappy trucks will warranty unless they see that hole

CL asking prices are all over the map, but in SoCal I think most of the KRL761, which there are PLENTY of for sale, actually sell closer to a grand.

That's why you need to monitor CL for awhile. After you have gone out to see a few (people's idea of mint condition may be a lot different than your idea of mint) then when the right one comes along (color, condition, price, distance) then you can jump on it.

To the OP, a grand cash would be a fair offer, I recently bought a KRL761 for $700 similar condition, had to replace a set of slides but it did have keys.
