Heading to an auction this Saturday that will feature this combo. I'm thinking $300, maybe $350, depending on condition. Does that sound about right?

Depends on if the roller is full of drawers. I believe these came standard with the bottom 12" open with no drawers.

That said, they look pretty nice, I don't think you'd regret spending $350.

I paid $250 for my kra 300 and was happy, so I think your range is dead on not including the tools. I'd like to find a kra 61 some day for my box.

I'm thinking you're going to have to shell out more than $350 to get that combo.

How much more, you think?

This isn't anything I particularly need - just something to hold overflow for a while until I get a much larger roll cab...

If I buy it, I'll probably use if for a year and sell it, and I'd rather not lose money on it.

Seeing the picture of the vintage tools reminds me of the frustration I often experience with the "aged" boxes: each drawer has non-removable dividers. These can really be a PITA.

Looks real clean and would have to agree that 350 probably won't do it

With it being an auction, no one could really say. All depends on who shows up how willing they are to part with the cash and how much effort they brought along to help load it. Some folks seem to succumb to auction fever pretty easily, especially when something name brand and shiney shows up. Could go for $10, could go for $1000, seriously never know at an auction. :lol_hitti

Maybe the ill formatted auction listing will deter people from showing up. :dunno:

I have no idea how many people will be there. I wouldn't expect more than 200, considering where it is.

I'm not so concerned about what it will go for... I'd like to peg what it's worth - what would it sell for on craigslist or something. I don't want to make money by reselling it, just don't want to lose too much money should I decide to resell it later.

Very hard to say, the larger pics lead me to believe it is not in that great of condition.

I could see it going for close to $500. Like zkling said, it could go for a lot or a little depending on your competition. I would think the combo will go for at least $250. I'd pay $250 for that roller by itself if it was in nice condition. I've been looking for one of those.

If you want to protect yourself for resale, I'd go up to $400 for the combo. (assuming good condition)

Bottom cab was in great shape. Top box had a bunch of floppy drawers and was bolted to the bottom. Auction is still in progress, and yes, I've gotten quite a bit of the contents. :)

Sold for $450. I didn't buy it.

Was that for just the empty box? What do you mean by floppy drawers on the top? After I saw the larger pics I started to think it has seen some pretty good use. Still I might have bought it depending on what floppy drawers means. :dunno: I really like that bottom box.

The top box was a lot newer then the bottom, so I'd say it was worth fixing. Probably just need slides. In the heat of the moment, I'd maybe have gone $450, but with a clear head, I'd say $450 for the combo was too high.

Spongey is probably a better word. Push the drawer shut and it comes back out 1/8" or so. Definitely needed new slides. I'm sure it was worth it, just not to me.

I bet something just fell behind them, probably paper or the like. I probably would have gotten it if that was the case.

I bought a similar KRA300/KRA61 full of tools, albeit most not Snap-on tools, for $450. My only regret is it did not have the optional bottom drawers.

The side shelf on the one at auction was worth a few dollars, but the way I use mine, there's no room for a side shelf anyway.

OP made the right decision.

he bid in an auction with a pre established maximum in mind and stuck to his guns.

the first and most important rule in successful auction buying - mentally set a max price in advance (even if you are just bottom fishing) and walk if bid price exceeds it.

These are now easily $500
Just my experience, but in constant dollars, the value of these older Snap-on boxes seem to be static or falling. Seems GJ has convinced all the young buyers they gotta have roller slides and deeper, wider drawers.
