Snap on kra5213 box--- opinions please!

Any opinions on a used snap on box kra5213? A local one is for sale, and I am wondering about the quality for a homeowner/ weekend wrencher. Any feedback work be great, along with price suggestions.

This would be a great box for a home garage. I compared it to my current KRA2312 that I have in my garage which is pretty much the same box (yours has a bit greater load capacity) as what you are quoting and I can say enough good things about it.

What overall condition is it in? Got any pictures of it?
Do all drawer slides work?
Not a huge deal but are liners included?

What is his asking price?

I have not seen it in person, and am just beginning my search for "higher" end tool box. Seller claims it is in excellent condition, with no flaws, and sounding legit over the phone. Unsure of the age, but I am assuming 5 years or older perhaps, and said he was firm at $1500. From what I am researching, this may be a tad high?

What makes it hard is that it appears that there are many Classic 78 boxes for mid/high 2ks- not sure if they are selling, but they appear to be tougher. I am just an average do it yourself guy, but want a ONE TIME box.... but don't want to spend a ton of loot either! (I suppose I am like most people here- want a deal to present itself!!! LOL!)

Yeah 1500 might be a bit on the steep side. Allthough it really depends on what condition the box really is in person. I have had my share of bad advertising, especially when it comes to CL ads. They do make it sound really good and believable over the phone but in person is a whole different story. I'd say if you really want the box and it is in as good of condition as he say's it's in, offer him $1200 in person and see if he bites. That "firm" bit people say doesn't really stick on many when you show a "reasonable" cash amount in hand and in person.

At the time I bought my box, I was really debating on whether to get the Classic series over the Heritage series I have now. The one thing I did like about the Classic was the bit larger depth on the drawers. The Classic's are I believe 24" where mine and the one your looking at is 19 or 20". The Classic's are also of the greater load capacity similar to what your looking at. Since mine was originally a repo I couldn't pass the price up. If you frequent CL like I do I would take your time on buyin a Snappy box. If you are willing to dive into the $2K range you might even find a nice older KRL series which is what most of the chrome slingers around here use. I see my Snappy guy on Friday so let me ask him what he thinks of that box on CL.

Yet he updated his post again saying it must sell by the weekend... Perhaps he didn't think I'm serious, and now I am not!!!! Lol! I don't like being ignored,so IM OUT! No loss!!!

I've been perusing OLD forum posts, and see awesome deals on classic 78s, and some on krl722s. I am willing to pay 2-2.5 for the right box, but would like to be under 2k. I found a nice classic 78 about 3hrs,and working a deal on it. I'm in NO rush, but want a solid box that will suit me for many years to come. It's amazing,some old ads advertised deals for weeks until they sold- a sad sign or the poor economy I suppose

This has always been a mystery to me. If I was selling something for that price and I had an interested buyer I would do whatever I could to make sure the sale went through. Some people just don't see things the same I guess. Oh well...

For that price range you are looking at you should be able to find a nice older KRL for sale. If you are going to go the lighter duty boxes though the Classic series has had some good reviews from people I have talked to. Mainly because of the greater load capacity and deeper drawers as compared to the Heritage series. Yeah it is sad and sometimes upsetting to see a SO box put up for sale because of someone being laidoff or just needing some extra $$$ to make ends meet. Fortunate for us though who are looking for those deals. But do take your time looking. Escpecially if you have some time to spare before buying. One will definately come your way

I bought a kra5213 last month and I love it. It was a huge upgrade for me but I'm just a hobbyist. It has plenty of room for my tools, and I even have a few empty drawers left. Plus it's basically a rolling workbench when I need it for that.

I paid $800 for mine and I jumped on it. My opinion is, know what you need the box for, know your budget, and follow your gut instinct--no matter how good a deal it is, if it's something you don't like, then you won't like it when you get it home either. I passed up great deals on shorter double stacked boxes because I wouldn't be able to use them as a workbench.

I missed a classic 78 for $800 as well. I really hated that, but I found this one and I actually like it better. The 78 is a heavy *******, stronger, and it's a deeper box than I have. But it has 11 drawers, where mine has 13.

The reality is, the shallower box is better for me because of the depth of my garage. I can pull my truck in front of the box, close the garage door and still have room to walk behind my truck. I just wish my box had the full length top drawer like the 78 has, but I can live with what I have.

I know this is a long post, I apologize for that. The deals are out there, you just have to be patient but also be ready to strike when they appear. Other than that, I guess my only other opinion is, get something that is bigger than what you need so you have room to grow into it.

One more thing...I knew my budget was <$1000 so I had to be picky and patient for the best deal. If your budget is $2-2500, there is a ton of stuff out there in that price range, and a lot of them will have a lot of tools included.

Well, I settled on a Classic 78. I could simply not pass up the price, and it should work well for what I do. I hang much of my tools (personal garage) so security isnt a big deal. The box is mainly for speciality tools and of course sockets. It is working well so far, and best yet, I have am quite under budget, so I still have fists fill of cash!!!
