Masters series is a downgrade from Epiq, isn't it?
I'd get the KRL 1033 if it was me, those extra long top drawers are drool inducing.

43922 cu inches for the epiq compared to 44761 for the 1033. The 1023 has 44260. My suggestion is stick with the epiq. Your not gaining that much more space, if that's what your after. There's options out there for making the most out of your space as well as more then enough options for increasing that space with side cabinets, hutches, top boxes or even just a nice cart to hold some of the overflow. Personally I love the look, the height and the way my epiq was built. And as far as cost. The list price of an epiq with a power top is around 11700. When the 1033, 1023 is around 10800. So depending on the options your epiq has your trade in may not be worthwhile. i got into my epiq with a power top cheaper then I would have for a 1033 which Is what I originally wanted.

Check the real cost per cubic or square inches and you may decide there isn't really even a cost advantage to go back to a KRL series.
Now if the question is strictly drawer arrangement, then I'd say you just need to think about how you like to group your tools and then consider how each group will best fit in wide / narrow drawers. Will you end up with multiple "types" of tools in one wide drawer if you get the 1032? Do you care? Conversly, do you have so many large groupings that you will be forced to put split a group spread between 2 narrow drawers if you get the 1033? Again, do you care?
I can tell you I have 1022, and it does bug my mechanics brain that I can't fit ALL of my wrenches in the super wide 2nd drawer (I could if I just piled them, obviously, but that would not lend itself to efficient work). So I have all of one type there and then the rest in one of the standard width drawers down lower....that and other reasons have got me getting set to get an 84" Epiq now.....

Got the 68" epic on a wicked deal I coulden pass up but using it I miss my triple bank it's not that I need more storage although I do it's the way the box is set up I need more doors to better organize my tools also I was looking at getting a locker and at double the price the krl lockers that's not gonna happen it's a great box it's just the little things that make me wanna trade it

My dealer has a 1033 on his truck. I've looked at it a couple times, and man I don't know what I'd do with that top drawer. The obvious answer is "fill it with sockets, idiot", but if I actually put enough in there to fill it, I'd be seriously afraid of it being heavy enough to tip the box. 
I'm a sucker for a 1023, myself. Especially if I could throw a Powercab on the left side to get my air and cordless tools out of a drawer.

Have you had any KRLs in the past?
Are you trading in the Epiq towards this new box? You should be able to get most of your money back if so. And my experience has been the bigger / better you are looking to buy, the better the dealers make the deal. You could just trade it towards and Epiq triple bank 76" or 84".
I also don't care so much for the KRL lockers now that I have one - too flimsy mounting by one lip and couple of screws -- side of the locker sags some just from the weight of hanging it in place - I can't imagine loading it down with any heavy stuff (and have not). I like that they added casters under the Epiq lockers and they added a couple of slide out shelves in them.....But I know I am a sucker for the evil "easy weekly payments" so many here bash so much - I can have exactly the tool box I want for a few bucks a week when I trade up....I have no other "vices"....I know people who spend more and beer and cig's than I do on my wicked evil credit tool box payment I waste my money on
Never had a krl but a a couple guys got the 1033 and the 1023 in the shop an I'm just trying to figure out with one they both have there positive points but my gear head brain keeps telling me with the 1023 I'm not gobba have the room for all my wrenches or future wrench sets in that one long drawer and that's gonna drive me nuts but the shorter draws are more functional I wanna get rid of the epic cause everything for it like a side locker or a riser are way more the the krl lockers I can trade mine in get a locker and riser almost for the same price as just the epic locker

I like my 1023 and with the added side locker, have plenty of room for my tools. The top drawer is just right for my chrome sockets and the metric wrenches just fit in the second drawer. I will admit that I like the thought of the long top drawers on the 1033 however....
Yeah think I'm gonna go with a red 1033 with black trim the black work top and the full size side locker no hutch right now though I'm a taller guy and I hate that you gotta bend over to get to the inside of the hutch will send pics when I get it all

the epiq is a totally different box, feels like a cornwell or craftsman professional.
get a KRL, best box to date and you might save just a little bit of money going from an epiq to a KRL

I wouldn't recommend black trim on a KRL, it wouldn't look right.

I have the 1033, the top drawer is full with sockets, ratchets, extensions and a plier rack.
The second long drawer is full of hammers , dollies and misc body tools.
I like both epiqs and KRL, but I got a really good deal on the 1033.

I have a 1033 also, and i love it. Its full of tools, I was a tad worried when i got it about the configuraion of the top two drawers but now that i have it i couldnt be happier. I needed usable space not nine stacked small drawers like the 1032 on the right bank. Ide go 1033 and not look back. And if you need pics i can supply at your request...
I also have the 1033, I am so happy with it. I am sure that this is going to be my last box. The 2 long drawers rock. Top one is full of all my sockets, and smaller one holds all my wrenches. One member posted concers about having to many sockets/weight in the drawer it might tip over, i can assure you this will not happen as my drawer is FULL. Can also supply images if needed.
The epiq drawers are nice, I also have the epiq mobile workstation # KRSC100APCM. I like the quick access of the epiq drawers but the 1033 drawer locks feel much more solid.

You have probably made up your mind by now but my vote would be for the KRL1033. I debated as well over the two large drawers but I have them both filled to the brim and I am glad I went that route.

I'm confused. You say you vote for the 1033 and you are glad you went that route, but your picture is a 1023. what route are we talking about here?

My bad. I stand corrected. When I bought mine I was under the understanding that the difference between the 1023 and the 1033 was that the 1023 only had the top drawer go across both sections and the 1033 had the top two drawers that went across two sections. I didn't realize that the 1033 went across all three banks.

If I had to guess, I would say very easy. Ball bearing drawers are actually easier to open when they're loaded.

I personally can't resist the drawer count on the 1023 (although I sacrificed some square inches for additional 4" depth drawers).
I don't like having discrete types of tools share a drawer, and I really like knowing that at the end of the day if I haven't been in a certain drawer I don't have to check it for completeness.
I've never worked a day out of a 1033, but the full width drawers seem like you'd need to sidestep to reach the corners...I think that would bug me.
Also, at the end of the day I usually park my cart infront of the right bank of the 1023, and clean and restock the items in the 2 left banks. Then I reverse the cart position and restock the right bank. Having a full width 1033 socket & wrenches drawer would prevent this as they would extend over the top of the cart. These are the two drawers that see the most restocking at the end of my day.

Has anyone moved from a KRL 1003 or 1023 to a 68 Epic and found they dont have enough room to get all their tools in?

It will not unless all the other drawers are empty.
I have a 1032 and a 1033.
I have the transmission cart with a 3n1 on top of it the extra drawer and it is loaded with tooling, the base is filled with machinist vise and big tooling jigs.
My SO guy has never seen a box so overloaded. They are tough and will take excessive abuse.
