Hi Guys, first post so go easy please :)

I've been searching all day and have found numerous posts about the KRL boxes but haven't seemed to find exactly what I'm looking for.

Pretty simply put, what are the differences from the KRL1001 and the KRL7022?

I guess another question would be if you could buy either one at about the same price and condition which would you buy? Or which is the better deal/box? I'm looking at two different used (private party) boxes, both seem to be in good to great condition and within $200-$300 of each other with the KRL1001 being cheaper.

Thanks a lot for your help!

7022. You are really going to enjoy having that second full length drawer.

Thanks for that feedback blacK20

Take a look at the dimentions on Snapon.com

tgrundy131 I have looked at the dimensions, at least I think I have :lol_hitti The SO site doesn't list the KRL1001, when I do a search it goes to the KRL1022 so I'm guessing the KRL1022 has replaced the KRL1001, but not certain. Based on those comparisons it looks like only real difference is height of the KRL1022 and of course cubic inches.

Can anyone comment if # of drawers/configuration and height are the ONLY differences between the two? I'm mostly wondering about build quality, are they the same exact box aside from being configured differently? Will a 7022 last me as long as a 1001 under same conditions, etc.

I"m just trying to get the best box/deal I can. Thanks again!

I would not worry about the build quality of a snap on box. If it is a snap on box it is a quality built box. I have owned many over the years. My current one is a three bay. I look at the weight of the tools that are in some of the drawers, and wonder why it just does not fold in half when opened. Not knocking other brands, as i have owned them too. I would guess that if you stay with a professionel series of tool box, you have a quality box. Quality come with a price.

I currently both of these boxes and are used regularly in my garage. The quality of both is almost identical. Don't worry about the build quality, I have been using them for over 30 years an have been very happy with the quality. I agree with both comments about the type of drawers but, I got both types to house SAE tools in one box (7022) and metric tools in the other. This does not apply, of course, to my pullers, bearing tools, and other specialty tools which are better used in the 7022. By the way, I have a butcher block top on the 7022 and a stainless top on the other so that they can double as my work table.

It is not a you **** price by any means, but it does not seem like a bad price, especially with the OBO. These boxes tend to go all over the place depending on location or if you are buying from a tweaker. One of the guys on here would be able to buy that box full of tools for $1500, but he is not the norm.

It did look very nice in the pictures. You could pay a lot more for less. My friend has the same combination, he likes it a lot. I bought a KRL 1023 for $4500 with $500 of that as a trade. I love the box, the two top drawers are awesome.

Kind if what I'm thinking. I figure I'll sell my KRL for what u can and start using this one. I do wish it had the 2 full length drawers on the top but I'm ok if it don't.

The 1001 has only 1 full width drawer but it is 1 drawer taller than the 7022. If you are ok with the taller bench top height the additional storage space will be worth it.

One thing I can think of is the top drawer of my buddies box is not as deep as my 1023, he can't stand his 1/2" impacts up on any type of holder and shut the drawer. I wish I knew what model his was for sure, I think it has some decals on it that say "dominator". He bought his used from the snap on guy, he traded in a Cman box and got a ridiculous deal.

Isn't the krl1001 the same as my krl761 except 30" deep. Or does it have a different drawer count? The extra height don't bother me so that's not an issue for me at all.
