Snap-on krl756 / 1970's Proto

I picked up this KRL756 off CL yesterday for $350.00.

I now need to sell my old Proto top and bottom, minus the side box to offset the cost. I have had the Proto since 1976 and am looking for input on what would be a fair price to ask for it. It has some scratches and slight surface rust starting on the drawer fronts. It is located in central Ohio.

I don't follow the newer boxes much (they is a bit out of me price range). But from my limited knowledge I think you got a FANTASTIC deal on that KRL. I think it is still for sale for like $3500 from SO. So for the same price as a new HF44" bottom, you got a really nice SO bottom? Yea no brainer. Looks to be in really good condition too.

As for the older box. While it is neat, you are probably looking at $225-275 on craigslist on a good day. More around $200-225 average day. Depending on your local market for used boxes and it's in person condition of course. It is not in the best condition (no offense), kind of a small top box, not a better known brand to the masses and it is friction slide. IIRC those boxes were made by waterloo for proto. To maximize your $, clean it up, lube the slides, make sure all drawers have drawer liner and hopefully you have the keys. All elements needed to get the most for a used box.

i would be hard pressed to sell a box i had had owned for nearly 40 years. it may be worth 200 to 400 dollars but what is it worth in sentimental value. i would gladly pay 500 dollars for my old 6 drawer rem/pro that i bought in the summer of 1984. i know it was well less than 200 dollars when i bought it and it went with a whole stack that i had picked up over the years later. i thought i needed to fund the purchase of a 40 inch roller bearing cman stack. one of the worst moves i ever made, seriously...................

Man I am jealous! I have been looking for a used 756 for two years and cannot find a used one within hundreds of miles. I have had a couple 761's and a 756 is my dream roll cart! enjoy. I also agree you might regret selling that other one, even if its ten yrs from now.

Great deal on the 756, I agree with the others, don't make a quick decision to sell. Like sk farmer, I've sold some stuff to 'make room' or 'generate cash' that I later regretted...I'm not talking about stuff that was easily replaceable (common tools) but things that had sentimental value...either because I owned them for a long time or my father did.

Great deal on the snap on box, I would have been all over that one.

On the proto....to me it looks like a box I would ask $300 for and take $250 if I really wanted to sell it.
If it was me I would keep it and retask it to storage of something like bolts or woodworking tools.....that is unless you really need the money that bad

If you do sell it, to make it an easier sell I would load ot with any older junker tools you have been thinking of selling of giving away and the craigslist it like that

i sold a couple of boxes 8 or 9 years ago, and i still regret selling them.

i've come to the conclusion that i'm not selling any more....
and hopefully wont buy anymore either
