Hey everyone, I just decided to restore my 1995 KRL761 since I wanted the box to match my KR637/KR657 set to use as a home box/workbench. It’s missing the vertical center trim, and needs some detents. Does anyone know what the part numbers for these are? I believe the slides are 8-2188ALRS according to some old posts but would also appreciate if someone could confirm. Thanks in advance!

Made quite a bit of progress today. This is a much bigger undertaking than my other boxes. My main goal is to learn or at least dive into a new skill with this box and that is spraying a single stage urethane coat on it with a HVLP gun. My previous boxes were rattle caned. The next paint project is going to be a big one…

Call Snap-on with the model number. They carry all the parts and have breakout illustrations to find what is needed. Hold on to your wallet. This is going to hurt.

Not painting the underside of the box so I decided to take the casters off and clean both them and the underside. Looks pretty good now.

Here’s the progress on some of the drawers and the box with the trim and locks on it. Got 2 replacement keys from LDV.

The box looks great! I’ve got a KR660 that I keep saying I’m going to restore. I’d love the wide top drawer though. I called snap on for parts. It depends on who you talk with. I was honest in that I was not the original owner of the box. The nice woman I talked to sent me some (some things were not in stock) of the parts I needed for free. I had to call back to finish up with the rest. I ended up paying for the casters that I needed. Expensive? Yes, but I didn’t have to modify anything and I know they are rated for the weight that the box can handle. Again, great job, that’s a lot of work.

A short update post. Slides are on backorder from SO, so will have to wait for them to finish the box. Here’s how it looks at the moment.

I still have the original ribbed mat. It is deplorable condition but still usable. I decided to look into alternatives and found this Dimex tool mat on Amazon. Pretty sure Dimex makes the OEM mats for SO.

Finally got some akro bins on an Amazon Whse deal. They fit pretty nicely.

Awesome job on the restoration so far! The work is worth it once you slide that last drawer in and take a step back.
I had to wait about a month for drawer slides to ship from Snap-On on my latest restoration as well. It was worth it though...nothing like being able to put together all fresh parts.

The current OEM non direction rubber mat for Snap-On tool boxes is a product called Kleen-Rite rubber matting.

You can find it here:
Kleen-Rite Mat

It is identical, I have ordered from Snap-On direct and from the above link and the materials are exactly the same. It is excellent stuff, cleans up easily and is not affected by chemicals and spills.

Texture of the material shown here:

This awesome, thank you for this info! I’ll try to order some of this before I settle on the Dimex one.

So its been a while but I finally got this box all in one piece for now.

Here it is next to the smaller boxes. These have all my mechanic tools.

And since the excuse was that this would be the “home box” my wife is already busy transferring stuff into it.

I don't see a hole ? maybe its the photo . The box is complete really dirty. The slides were really difficult to move to I used some mineral oil to free everything up so I could slide them enough to get the drawers out. I pressure washed it and started removing the slides. I ordered snapon cranberry 2 step paint restoration. I am going to have to prep a few areas before paint. Did you have to sand anything ? I have a couple areas where the paint was chipped and there is some rust. not bad but needs to be treated
