Hello...new to the forum....I'm not a professional mechanic , but enjoy my tools. I've always wanted a Snap on tool box of some sort. I now have the opportunity to buy this cart for $900.. hardly used, excellent condition.... Is it a good buy in your opinions? Thanks I can buy a brand new Matco(pic below in a comment) also for $1100...leaning toward SnapOn..

A coworker of mine had one of those things. I was not impressed. They seem rather flimsy for the money they go for.

Bear in mind that they are not toolboxes, but rolling carts. They seem much lighter duty than Snappy's toolboxes.

Thanks for the reply....I know it's not a tool box per say,,, but it's not thousands of dollars either. I'm just looking for something to hold my tools at my house. I figured if I buy it,, I could get most of my money back later...they list around $1650 or so. I'm not crazy about my sears set up I have now.

I think $750-$800 ( or less ) would be a better deal remember it is used and usually stuff sells for half price.

I would buy it if I was in the market.

There was a perfect green one here on CL for $500 last month. They seem to go for $750 to 1k.

I have never owner a snap-on tool box, and there reason is I can't justify paying paying a few grand for a small cart, or over 5k for a similar size to my homak. My homak was $500 on sale, and works great for what I use it for. Why buy a $900 used tool cart when you can get an actual tool chest for less, and then you can go buy more tools?

I have the same exact one, I bought it new about 2.5 years ago for $1600. I love mine, I has seen daily abuse in a very busy auto shop environment. I am very hard my stuff. I have in anger and frustration, punched, hit with tools etc and it still has held up. I keep most of my basics in it and it rolls nicely around the shop still. I have every drawer full with a lot of tools and they still open like butter. If it was near me I'd buy it. Pics upon request.

I personally have an earlier version and would think that is a reasonable price. That statement "flimsy" is not warranted. I use this box daily, move all around our shop and it is FULL !

Because I have wanted a Snap On product. I would never spend the money they ask for the Snap On "tool "box"... Thousands of $$$...Even though this is called a "cart" , I still find it a great value. The person that originally had this cart traded it in on a Matco Cart. For some reason..he messed up financially ....soI can buy either one...the Matco is brand new..never used..still has the handles taped ....but it's $1100...and one less drawer. So I'm leaning towards the Snap On. Here's the Matco

$600-$700, I wouldn't leap at either for ~$1000 if you don't need it.

Yes, he bought a toobox for $1700.
Unless you have serious cash sitting around, seems silly.

Just get this and tape a decal to it.

Invest the other $700 into your kid's college fund.

I would agree with this. If no kid, invest $700 into retirement fund. However OP sounds intent on buying snap-on so that's all fine and good. They have great products (obviously), so it's not like it's a bad purchase. The price point is excessive, but pay what you want. Used price is a lot better, but still not realistic in my opinion.

If I were you I would I would sit on the CL and wait for the $500 SO chest or cart to come along. I was looking at stuff in my area about a week or so ago and there were plenty of them :rocker:

I wouldn't buy it because of its warranty...90 days....HF must not believe in its product.
No kids, wife...just me...and my 7 dogs....don't spend much money on anything really. No credit card debt,,,house almost paid off...Don't eat out much....besides buying kayaks to fish for red fish..this is just a treat for me. Not trying to give my life history....lol

Have you looked into older used stuff? Early 90s era snap on boxes dont bring much more than 1000 and sometimes less.

In my opinion the older quality is lightyears better than it is now and also exponentially cheaper than the modern boxes...

Buy the snap on I am on my second matco cart like that and this one, one of the slides broke already the rest of it has been ok but my first one was a piece of junk. Bought brand new btw not used and abused

I also have the snap on cart but the 33 inch one a bit smaller than that and it's better I wished I had bought the 46 instead of that matco cart but had no driver at the time

Other thing to realize the matco is a 1 year warranty snap on lifetime

CN get snap on as I have both

Put it this way...IMHO its an OK price. Not worth driving 100 miles to go pick up before someone else snatches it from you type deal.
Another thing to consider is IF its the perfect color for you it would certainly make a great "From DogDad TO: DogDad" Christmas Gift. IF you'd rather have another color, I'd probably be inclined to let it pass and use this opportunity to find a local SO truck you could deal with...If I'm not mistaken, that price is +/- Student pricing on that cart...you probably wont get a new one for that price, BUT you'd get one in the color you want, delivered to your door and some promo-bling thrown in as well.

Finding used boxes for sale privately in my area isn't easy...99.99% of the used boxes come & go off the tool trucks. I've got a MAC & SO Guy and they always both have used boxes at good prices....MUCH better pricing then you see on CL, plus service & delivery to boot.

Yes...watched craigslist and such...not much down here in New Orleans

If you are set on Snap-on find your local truck driver and try to wheel and deal. List prices are not firm prices. See if you can get the cart and some extras for some deals. It will cost more than used more than likely, but you will get your warranties (SO does not have a transferable warranty), a great new box that will last a long time, and some extra goods to go with it. Buying more will get you discounts on the truck. If you are good with bargaining you can most likely cut a pretty decent deal.

I have the krsc326 and I love it. I use mine as my main toolbox at work. Definitely not flimsy, especially when loaded with tools. I would try to get it for less than $900 though.

I'd probably have a hard time walking away from an Extreme Green KRSC46 for $800. Assuming it's not beat to ****.

Same cart but midnight blue on my local CL for $750 in great condition. Once I have my mind set on buying something, I check CL 4+ times a day. Drives the wife nuts.

Well..made my decision...bought this Extreme Green KRSC46 tonight for $800. Looks just about new except two micro chips in the back. The guy bought it brand new this last February , was a mechanic, then moved up to supervisor . He wasn't using it anymore. Have someone interested in my sears griplatch ball bearing set up for $250... All works out good for me.
