Was in Costco the other day and saw this. I've seen stuff like this sell for 5 pounds in other shops, then this SO branded stuff is on for a 15 pound premium. Made in China. Kind of dirties the brand ?

Funny. My son was at Costco and bought one for me as a joke. He paid about $10.00 for it. Works surprisingly well. I suspect about $8.00 of the cost is for licensing and about $2.00 to the manufacturer. Kid making it gets a bowl of rice.

Yes it does, boycot it, complain to Snappy. If we don't buy the China junk then importing it will come to a stop.

Alltrade Tools licenses the name, logo and colors from Snap-On to brand a wide array of products. Knives, lights, compressors, air tools, electric power tools, generators, floor mats, chairs, tons of stuff. Costco buys it from them. Sears and Amazon sell a lot of it too.

At least those Duracells are made in the USA.

The incremental revenue from licensed tool royalties helps SO maintain low prices for their mainstream products:lol:

It's like the current trend of BMW putting 'M' badges on everything. It used to be only the best motorsport originated stuff got it. Now you can buy an M sport 3 series diesel .

I will get over this a lot easier then chicom craftsman ratchets. I have a fake SO trouble light in my home garage. Got it half off from ace and for what it is and the easy life it lives, it is fine. I wouldn't take it to work and I wouldn't buy a real one for home.

At least those Duracells are made in the USA.

Duracell has licensed Chinese made batteries. Going by the picture with the batteries showing, the top one with the date has the Chinese lettering above it and that is definitely a Chinese made Duracell battery.

Duracell does it more as a marketing thing so when you go to buy replacements once the item is here, the hope is you buy the Duracell replacements which will most likely be USA made.

They aren't actually tools, it's more like Snap on stuff. Yeap, Snap on prostitutes its name to further brand recognition. Alltrade does market everything from flashlights, drop lights, to pressure washers as others have pointed out. What's funny is that the stuff found off the truck can't be found on the truck and vice versa. the lesson here is that a piece of **** is still a piece of **** even if it has the snap on name on it.
