Snap-On limited box question?

OK so I've seen limited Snap-On boxes for many of the NASCAR greats. However I've never seen one for one of the greatest racing legends of all time The King Richard Petty. Why?

The reason I ask is I have an old Snap-On box I am doing up for the boy who is now 5 yes old and he insist on blue for the color. I was thinking of doing it up like a Richard Petty box to add a little history for him to learn about.
I'll have to find some vintage racing decals and a pic of the king and his Datona so any help from GJ members would help and be appreciated.

Please leave feed back and thoughts on this project. Any history info on the King is welcome aswell. Seeing this will not only be a father and son project but my first one on one attempt at teaching my son some history.

They made the Dodge Daytona Charger and the Plymouth Road Runner Superbird with the nose and large rear wing. The Daytona did not have the curved rear window that was on the stock Charger, they replaces it with a flat rear window. Petty did drive Chargers in the 70's but that was a completely different car.

One of his actual Superbirds is in your garage? No ****? Wow, that is freaking cool, you got any pic's? And even if it is the petty blue factory road model, I still wants pic's and that is still damn cool :)

Oh, and the story goes, that Petty blue was an accident, they ran out of paint on the car and mixed the dark blue and white they had left to paint the car and that was how petty blue was created. Unknown if that is true, but that is what they say.

Wasn't Petty sponsored by MAC Tools?

If so that may explain why Snap-On never did a limited tribute box. However MAC Tools does a lot of limited boxes too and I've never seen a Petty box? Still think this will be an awesome project for the boy and I.

That will be going in the history lesson. Thanks a million.

I remember there being some Richard Petty Mac stuff back in the early 90's - I'm not certain if there was a box, but I do remember a wrench set, a clock and screwdrivers.

Mac did make a Petty box....my old dealer had seen one at a dealer meeting once back in the late 80's. I think he told me they were damn few and far between.
