Snap On lock-n-roll replace with detents?

Most here are familiar with Snap On's lock-n-roll plastic drawer release system, and some like it some don't. It's mostly personal preference but has anyone installed detents? Just wondering since I personally don't like them and prefer detents. I saw detents on Snap On's website and aren't sure if they're compatible with all their toolboxes.

not a fan of lock n roll either.... i have seena video of someone doing a modification that allows for "soft-close".

To me it didn't take long to get use to lock and roll. I don't even notice its there. I like the easy open verses having to yank against detents.

I've always wondered if the KR1000 slides will fit a KRL1001 box. If they did, that would be sweet.

My KRA2422 has soft detent built into the slides, they're not very stiff (don't count on it to keep drawers shut while moving, always lock the box up!) but it is noticeable when you pull the drawers. Just remove the lock-n-roll tab under the drawers and keep them aside, they can be reinstalled in less than a minute should the need ever arises. I did it for convenience, since the box rarely gets moved.

All snapon ball bearing slides have detents. You can upgrade them to the heavy duty detent which will hold the drawer shut much tighter.

If you do take the lock-n-roll things out, I'd put them under the bottom drawer. There's quite a bit of space there, they'll be safe if they're ever wanted.

Occasionally I'm on the left side of my tool box, and when I reach for the lock-n-roll release it's not there. There's about 6" of dead space on the extreme left, that's all the bad I have to say about it.

I've used the lock-n-roll slides before while in the military and they would always stick out past the drawer and someone would always close it and break the plastic slide.

But the slides themselves have detents? So one could remove the plastic slides and use just the soft detents that came stock with the slides?

The Lock 'n Roll slides have a detent in the back but they're not really a detent; more of a pad to cushion the blow when you slam the drawer closed.
