Picked up a ground down 9/32 . Want to put a 1/4 rebuild kit in it. How do you get the plate out? It's in there tight.

Put it in a vise, and using a punch, knock it out from the back. PS: best to use a plastic bag over it, so your parts will not get lost. Use a brass hammer to put the faceplate back on.

OK no vice and no brass hammer so I had to magyver it with two pair of vice grips a wooden dowel and a bp hammer. Any idea how old it is?
