Snap-On manuals

Hello all,

I am very disappointed (sometimes annoyed) that Snap-On doesn't make copies of equipment instructions available for tools that are not that old. In particular I need a new copy of the instructions for the EELD102 halogen leak detector, and you would think that it was made in 200 BC from the trouble I've had to find one.

Any suggestions, help etc?

If you have such a tool as well, and would be willing to copy the manual, I would pay that cost.

Did you call and ask? I've called for a few different ones and they are in my email box, before the phone is hung up.

I would like to say I pulled a few strings, drove to the snap-on head quarters, bought a brand new EELD102, and took the manual out just for you...... But I'd be lying.
One phone call to snap-on, 3 minutes on the phone and it was in my inbox. You must of got the people from India that are instructed to say their name is John.

strelnik, my guess is that Snap-On has the manuals for any and all tools in both .ai Adobe Illustrator files and .pdf's stored on their servers in their Graphic's Dept. for anything from the early to mid 90's and later.

Anything they have earlier than that (pre computer graphic layout ) means the manuals were layed up by hand per page, then sent out to pre-press to shoot and clean up and then sent to press for plate making and printing.

And in this day and age, it';s likely and intern or co-op has scanned and converted to digital files and thus .pdf's all of the older manuals that were not orginally digital page by page.

Now that info runs out when they have nothing to scan for any particular tool manual that is not in thier posession or they cannot find a copy of.

AutoWeek magazine is now doing that for old issues they do not have a copy of in the Crain Publishing archive but subscribers have in thier hard copy archives. It's a cattle call of company info that the company did not reatin but the public still has all around the globe by thier purchasers.

Pre 1980's and before is the hard to find SO "dead tree" versions for manuals.

Keep digging. Someone at SO will help you. It's a graphics dept/digital imaging dept. file I am sure.

Snap on is great for finding diagrams and parts list, some time back I needed help with an old sander and I was not having any luck on the GJ. After a phone call they sent me the complete diagram and parts list for the tool and I was able to order new parts.
