Over the weekend I lucked into a good deal on a 1988 KR637/KR657 top, bottom combo at a garage sale. After getting it home I found the keys and matching keychain in the bottom, behind the drawer. Literally the keychain is an image of the box itself. :wtf:

What is the story behind the matching snap on key chain? How long did they offer these? What all models did they offer them for? Do they still offer them for today's boxes? I searched google and ebay, but couldn't find much of anything on these key chains.

Any info, O.. and pictures :bounce: would be appreciated. Or just any pictures of neat snap on key chains would be cool.

Thanks

That would come in handy if you had 10 Snap On boxes all different models.

I think if you had TEN different Snap On tool boxes, then you have bigger things to
worry about than what key goes to what box.. :willy_nil

:+1:Seriously, my real concern is getting the keys to all my Ferraris mixed up. Don't you just hate when you get all seated in your Dino and realize that you just grabed the keys to your F40 or Enzo. Gosh I really hate those days. :lol2::lol:

On the note of too many keys: I have an old KR 637 / 657 set I picked up recently for the home shop. I had a new box ordered at work at the same time, so when it arrived I matched all 6 locks for it and home with current style. I was concerned that a box that old might not except the new locks, but it only took a few minutes to make 'em work. Now, one key opens everything I own.

I have one. The front is exactly the same as yours. My dealer's name and phone numbers are printed on the back. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when I got mine, since I've been buying from the same dealer for almost 30 years. I'm pretty sure it was between 1988 and 1995. As others have mentioned, they are no longer available.

My grandfathers toolbox keys also have that red rubbery keychain. I never really thought about it though.
