Snap-on MG31 Rebuild Kit

I have a Snap-on MG31 and the trigger needs to be rebuilt? The gun acts like the switch is partially depressed when not in use. Pedro-snapon can you point me in the right direction perhaps. I have found the parts list on the Snap-on website, but I am unsure as to what I need to replace.

it would be cheaper if you send it out to get fixed... that sounds like a sticking valve not the trigger

My Snap on 1/2 gun would blow air constantly when connected to the air supply. I took the air fitting out and found a few nylon orings. One was cracked. It cost me less that 2.00 to fix it. Look at the snap on site and go to the repair parts section. There should be an exploded diagram of the tool that will identify the parts. This may save you a lot of money.

o-rings X2; I have had a number of air tools that had air leaks; upon take apart, the o-rings were typically the problem. Take it apart, clean it up; replace any bad o-rings, put lots of air tool oil all over the parts when re assembling, then run a bunch of it through the air inlet and see what happens. I bought a used Astro Pneumatic 1/4" impact wrench that had a really annoying air leak at the trigger; took it apart, cleaned the valve, lubricated the bore the the valve went in, and ran a bunch of air tool oil through it; all the while working the valve, took it apart/reassembled a couple of times. The air leak went away and all is fine now! Give it a try you've got nothing to lose; maybe some time and a couple of bucks worth of o-rings; if you still can't fix it, send it in!

Here is a picture of the diagram above and here is a link to the site below. There are only 2 o-rings, one at the back and one sorta in the middle, numbers 3a and 8. Are you guys referring to these?

You probably need to just "jump in" and take it apart to get to the point where you can access the trigger/valve assembly; take those part out, clean them, look for wear/broken parts. Put it back together and see what happens, you might be surprised what you find "in there" once you take it apart. If the Impact is working fine; aside from the trigger, I don't see why you should pay the whole "flat fee" to repair the gun if it is something so small as a air leak; if the impacting mechanism is bad or the gun is toast, then thats a whole 'nother story! In that case, the flat fee many times is worth it! It probably is something simple/easy to fix you just need to take it apart enough to access the trigger assembly/components.

Billymade is right.... your issue is more than likely in the trigger/valve assembly. If you decide to take it apart, I woud concentrate on parts 27,28 and 29. The trigger pulls on the stem of part number 28 which allows air in to spin the motor. Your leak might be as simple as a crooked spring (29) or a bad seal (27). Only way you will know is by taking apart....it is not nearly as intimidating as the diagram would lead you to believe. :thumbup:
