Snap On MG725 impact disappointment

First let me apology clickbait headline and get the facts straight - my gun is rebranded Bahco BPM 915 Pro so not a real snap on.

Bought the first gun maybe a month ago. This gun leaked air somewhere inside the handle from new so I took it back. It went on to inspection and after a week got a message that I could go and get a new gun off the shelf.

Well now I have a new gun, and after a short testing it seems that this one leaks air straight through the gun all the time! Did a bit of searching and found out it's a common problem with the trigger switch?

Don't really know what to do with it. Obviliously I have to take it back, but should I claim my money back or get a new one? Are these guns good or can I trust in one? Have I just been unlucky? The shop is a big box store which is 45 miles from my home, so it's not even something I could handle during a trip to grocerystore.

Thanks for your input!

I've had a mg725 for about 3-4 years and was never really impressed with it. I would get your money back. If I were you, I'd go with an Aircat, or do what I did and buy a cordless impact. My 20v Dewalt smokes the mg on its best day. As for Aircats, they are cheap, reliable and hit hard.

Return it and buy an IR.
I had a 725 and 325 and got rid of both of them. Hated the balance of the 725 and the damn valve seals would always go out.

IR Titanium hands down best overall gun out there considering its cost, weight and strength.

I got it cheap, paid approximately 170 bucks from it new since it was on sale.

I'll try to get my money back and buy something different. Wasn't originally even looking for this kind of a gun, but it seemed like a good deal and I'm allways a junkie for quality tools. I red some negative feed back off the gun before purchase, but thought that it would serve me well as I'm just a hobbyist.

I have a snap on MG725 and love it. I run the thing on 120 psi at work with no problems. The bahco looks similar but honestly I know nothing about that company.

Every time this comes up I really dont know how the MG725 get such rave reviews yes it hits pretty hard and lasts fine but it is an awful gun to use all day , Love my IR TI hits hard as the snap on , used all day every day no issue and it is some much better balanced and lighter than the snap on

Rather have a PTP gun (Napa matco cornwell) or aircat than an IR any day. Last three things from IR I bought have been crummy at best

Five years and it's already tired? I purchased my IR titanium gun when they first came out, used every day up until four years ago. No signs of wearing out and about 1/3 the cost of a SO gun. The only SO air tools I would purchase is their far72# air ratchets and the reversible cut off tool.

No idea what your options are in Finland but $170US sounds pretty good to me. If they'll let you swap it again i'd try a third. Personally i'd just fix it as opposed to driving another hour. Power wise MG725 is a good solid impact. The bad is primarily poor balance and the magnesium housing chips its paint in no time.

The factory is suppose to test each one before they go out so I wonder if its just some dried grease or something causing your problem. Perhaps dump an ounce of air tool oil into it and play with it for a few minutes, see if it doesn't solve your problem.

I’m not sure why the MG 725 has any popularity at all. I’ve owned two and both had problems aside from being a heavy and unbalanced club with **** for ergonomics and controls. I bought the second one after a couple years thinking I got a dud and should give them another chance. I even had the smaller MG 325 and it was back for warranty repairs twice in the first 12 months. I’m a pro tech on flat rate and I can’t always have my power tools falling out. I love Snap On hand tools but they won’t **** me again with their garbage impacts. Air or cordless.

Don't touch any air or battery tools from snapon besides a select couple .
Way way better to be had for under half the cost .
OP may have limited options due to location, I would go for Facom mail order, you can get the ns.1600f for 140bucks in europe .

I run a Cornwell composite for an air 1/2" gun and it's a beast.....but it rarely comes out anymore. I have had the "new" Mac 20v cordless gun since it came out and it does nearly everything I ask of it....big truck lug nuts included

There's some good information in this thread. I've been watching an excellent YouTube channel called "Alex Wittich." He's a professional transmission R&R man and works at a pro shop. I noticed that he uses an IR Titanium for his weapon of choice. He uses it all day long. It seems to work very well for him.

Mg1200, 725, 325 here. Out last and out perform whatever flavor of the year the other guys are running like IR, aircat, Cornwell etc. All can be factory rebuilt for just over a hundred bucks. I think the mg325 specs are optimistic. All are getting some rest since the m18 fuel stuff showed up.

Bahco is an old swedish tool maker owned by snap on these days.

I'm bit limited in choices but there's lots of stuff out here, Shinano, Atlas Copco, IRs can be bought with money etc.

I have nothing else to do in shops direction, so it'll be week or two until I can return it. Might as well give it some oil and use. I think legislation here also says that if they want they can still change it once.
