So like the title says, I have a mg725 that pops out of reverse. When i start to hammer on a bolt to take it off after 2 or 3 seconds the selector switch pops forward into the tightening direction and tightens it back up. Very confusing for someone who has never used my gun before. I hold my index finger over the selector to keep it in reverse and pull the trigger with my middle finger and it works fine. I just last month ordered the kit and replaced vanes and o rings in the gun, cleaned it, re oiled it blah blah blah, didnt fix anything. The gun has about the same power as it did when it was new, minus this stupid problem. I have always hated this gun and the stupid selector knob but it makes a good spare and id like to get it working properly for my other mechanic to use. Any ideas? Is this a common problem or defect with these guns? I have used alot of snap on mg guns and this is the only one ive ever seen do this

You either have a messed up o-ring on that direction lever, or the detente for it is missing or the spring for the ball is bad. By bad o-ring I mean it's binding on it and not locking into position. It should be free back and forth and you should feel it drop onto place right at the end of it's throw.

If the rear o-ring on the forward/reverse valve is torn it will do that. Also make sure the detent o-ring is good.
