So I recently bought an mg725 off ebay that was apparently only used twice and wasn't very old. Anyway the thing lacked some serious power today right at the end of my shift. I've taken my last one apart so I know how too do that but I don't know what to look for. Any idea of why an impact would loose power?

Rant! My old mg725 is almost 4 years old my snap on rep never carries anything on the damn truck so in a pinch I staged a deal of ebay. Now look at me two broken guns and neither of them work. I'm going to try to make one work snap on doesn't seem to have one of the parts I need for the old one. What kind of snap on tool truck guy doesn't carry a half inch impact on his truck. Sh!t he should have a dang loner.

Thanks for the help guys.

Make sure you have enough air at the gun. It's a hungry hoss.

Thanks I did that by attaching another gun to the hose and it worked flawlessly. I didn't actually test the hose other than that.

This is 3/8 or 1/2 line correct? I agree with 2 impacts doing the same thing you still may want to stick a regulator just before the impact and see what the pressure is with the trigger down.

Should just send one back, I think it cost $150 to have it rebuilt.

Yeah but if someone knows why a gun might get weak it could aid in me figuring out the issue and then I could order the parts myself and have it fixed for even less. And in the future when I have an issue I can rinse and repeat, once again saving myself money.

I'd rather figure it out on my own rather than waste my hard earned dollars.

When my IM510 went weak in the knees, it turned out to be a partially-plugged inlet screen.

Remove the inlet fitting, look at the screen behind 'n' inside.

I've got a Mac 3/8 impact that's got problems, if I can get it apart, I'm told that the impact mechanism probably has old, hardened grease that doesn't permit free movement.

No idea what's wrong with the red one but the oil in the motor had metal shavings in it. So I took the good parts out and fix the old mg725 with it and so far so good.

Once in a long while it helps to rinse with solvent and blow it out (internally). Guy at the plant responsible for all our tools would use kerosene and trans fluid, I think 50/50. Fill the inlet and blow it out.

I got a used 3/8 impact off the truck that was weak when I got it. Then I noticed it smelled like gear oil when I was using it I sprayed a bunch of brake cleaner down the inlet and loosened up. I guess the previous owner thought gear oil was just as good as air tool oil.
