I have a MG725 and a MG725QLV. Great guns, traded in a 6 month old Mac Gun for the MG725 after it wouldn't remove driveshaft bolts on my Ford, haven't looked back since. It's made quick work out of anything I have thrown at it.

you must oil both and you have to grease the ir gun. the mg725 has a sealed motor with redline synthetic oil in it. no grease to sling to the outside of the case when you pull the trigger.

You could buy two IR's for what one of those overpriced things cost. IR owns. Blah blah about the plastic mines get treated like a football in a heavy eq shop.

Oh and that is not a one sided opinion I actually do own both. The ******** works fine but why the hell bend over for what they cost when you can get two IR's that do the same thing?

I've never really had problems with grease slinging out of the 2135. The only time anything ever comes out oily is the from the exhaust port. Then again, I always oil my tools before I use them.

Normal. He is just assuming that, because the ir's use grease to lubricate the internal workings instead of *******, which has some kind of gear oil in theirs, the ir's internal workings dont get adequate lubrication and may wear out faster than the "superior" ********. Its just more of their propoganda.

Since you own one, why did you bend over?

Amazing gun. I got mine around 2 years ago and it was a couple months old and literally like new. It completely blows away my SO rebuilt Blue Point AT555 which is a 600 lb ft gun. The AT555 takes about 3 to 4 seconds to remove 360 lb ft axle nuts on my Land Rover and with the MG725 its well less than half that time. It a great gun.

I work for a city municipality and work on everything from crown vics to backhoes and dozers. I have the IR MAC version and the MG725. I use the MAC gun more because its smaller and less bulky but I find it not to be as strong as the Snap On gun. When the MAC won't break a bolt loose I pull out the Snap On.

This debate always comes up. People will always try to defend either the MG725 or the 2135. They are the 2 best guns out there, IMO, so it just comes down to personal preference so try both and see what you like. There is no wrong answer between the 2.

I personally own the MG725 and MG325, and wouldn't trade them for anything.

the grease is not on the motor if it is old and used up on the insides. if you grease it all the time then you are ok, but if you just run it w/o fresh grease then the motor gets real hot. ever used an impact so long that it gets really hot on the outside of the case?

Compressed air motors do not get hot, when you expand the compressed air it gets very cold. If you run any impact free speed or impacting for a long period of time it will generate heat in the front end, mostly due to the anvil contact with the hammer case bushing. There are +/- to both approaches (grease vs oil). I like grease becasue it doesn't leak out.

I have the MG725 & MG325; both are well designed and work flawlessly.

IR is renown for their air tools and it would be a great purchase.

You can't go wrong with either, your purchase decision will based on cost and personal preference.

I went with the 2135timax and 2115timax mostly because of size. both are smaller than snap on guns.

I own three 2135's, two 2115's, one 2100 (3/8" air ratchet) and two 1103's (1/4" ratchet). I LOVE my IR air tools. But, both guns are contenders:thumbup:

I was trying to get a bolt out the other day, I hammered at it for ever with my 2135, but, no go. I borrowed the much heavier, bulkier, louder mg725 from a co-worker. I figured this would be the chance to see "the difference". That did nothing either. In all fairness the bolt required some heat and a breaker bar. My experience was just okay. I really like the gun, just can't spend that much for it....

I too own both guns mentioned my pick is the 725 the 2135 is a great gun but in my opinion doesnt have as much power the IR is lighter and easier to get into tight places I use both guns but primarily grab the 725 again this is all my opinion and preference you may have different feelings on the two guns like someone else said do yourself a favor and get your hands on both guns try them out and go for the one you feel fits your environment and hands better

I pit my 725 against co workers matco version IR, I always win, it has never lost, all fact no bull, when he hits a tough one he grabs my gun and 9 of 10 times it breaks it loose, there is a difference , offer 300 cash and your dealer will sell it no receipt if he has any buisness skills, why buy the IR and regret not spending the extra bucks!

How do you like the 2115 so far??? I make excuses to get the opportunity to use mine
I love it... and ever since i changed all my air tools to high flow plugs and prevost push button disconnects i love it even more. Both the 2135timax and 2115timax just scream.

I have two 2115's and the bought a 725 and a 325. I rarely use the IR guns anymore and need to sell them... They are both good impacts and I prefer the Snap-on's but, to be honest, it boils down to your preference. I think the SO has a slight edge in power and the IR guns a slight edge in weight. Pick your poison and you will be happy.
